Temporary Personal Assistant – Sundbyberg

Hello! My name is Caroline, and I am the one looking for you. I am 45 years old and live in Sundbyberg with my Siberian cats, Emmie and Liam. I have a congenital physical disability that means I live with personal assistance around the clock.

I have lived with my assistance for over 20 years, which means I am secure in how I want my assistance provided. I am used to leading my assistants. I have a small assistant team where the assistants have worked for a long time. As a substitute, you will become a valuable team member.

Scope of Work and Hours

I am now looking for temporary staff who have the possibility to work varying hours. Since I have assistance around the clock, we are looking for substitutes for day, evening, and night shifts. I have on-call sleeping duty at night between 03:00–07:00. Therefore, there will be a lot of awake time during the shift.

The position is on an as-needed basis, and the amount of work you will receive varies from month to month. Therefore, it is an advantage if you have a flexible life situation with a regular occupation.

We are looking for you who

I am looking for a woman, somewhere between 20–60 years old. Age is not the most important factor. Our personal chemistry and interaction are what matter. You must be at least 18 years old to apply for the position.

You are calm and confident in yourself. You enjoy being in different environments. You are a non-smoker and can move freely, bend down, squat, etc. You are not allergic or afraid of cats. You enjoy working independently.

Tasks and Collaboration

Being my assistant means that you are my extended arms and legs. You take over where my body physically cannot reach. I lead the work and describe for you how you can help me in the best way. I take personal responsibility for my life and what it should contain. You do not need to worry about that.

Communication between us is incredibly important. You therefore need to have a good understanding of the Swedish language to ensure the assistance is as safe and good as possible. Being solution-oriented with a large portion of humor in life is an asset here.

I spend a lot of time at home with my cats. Helping me with my cats is part of the job. You therefore need to enjoy having a cat around you. Do not be afraid to lift or carry Emmie and Liam when needed.

At my place, the work varies a lot, and you also need to enjoy being available in the background. During those times, it is perfectly fine to read, study, paint, or do something else you find meaningful. As long as you are ready to help me when I need you.

About Me

I love reading, going to the cinema, and concerts. I happily take a coffee in town when there is time and energy. I use an electric wheelchair and also have a manual wheelchair.

I need help with all the practical aspects of life. Transfers, dressing and undressing. Showering, toilet visits, intimate hygiene, hand-holding, cooking, household management, etc.

All transfers are done with a ceiling lift. It is not heavy or strenuous. However, since you need to move a lot to help me, good physical fitness and some strength are advantages.

I am partially tube-fed via a gastrostomy, and I have a suprapubic catheter. This means we are careful with hand hygiene here. If you use nail extensions, you should expect them to break.

Night time: To work nights here, you need to enjoy being awake during the night as there will be a lot of awake time. At night, I have a ventilator that helps me breathe when I sleep.

Application

You do not need previous experience of either the job or the equipment. The important thing is that you are perceptive, can take instructions, and are willing to learn.
