Since autumn 2022, the Orthopedics Business Area (VO) has had three wards acting as pilots in the Magnet for Europe project, where Skåne University Hospital (Sus) is one of five hospitals in Sweden participating. The origin is from the USA, where Magnet hospitals are characterized by a good work environment and excellent nursing care, as well as the ability to magnetically recruit and retain staff.

Within the Orthopedics Business Area at Sus, more than 500 employees work, and we are one of Sweden's largest orthopedic operations. We have activities conducted in both Lund and Malmö. Each year, we receive over 85,000 visits at our clinics and have approximately 6,700 inpatients. Our patient group includes both children and adults.

Our orthopedic wards are inpatient wards focusing on back and trauma. We also perform some elective surgery with orthopedic operations on patients diagnosed with hemophilia. The nursing manager drives improvement work and quality development on the ward together with the rest of the staff. The activity has a pharmacist to facilitate medication management and support with medication-related questions.

At our workplace, we work according to Region Skåne's Competency and Service Model, which provides a clear structure for your learning and career opportunities within our operations. The orthopedic wards in Lund and Malmö were the first in the country to introduce career positions for nurses based on a structured development program in five phases, including education and learning activities in each phase. Each phase is linked to a clear competency ladder where, from phase three onwards, there is an opportunity to apply for the position of advanced nurse in orthopedics, linked to salary criteria.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In the role of nurse with us, you work with preoperative preparations and postoperative care of patients who have undergone various types of orthopedic surgery. You work in interprofessional teams consisting of nurses, assistant nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and administrative staff. Together with the team, you as a nurse are responsible for planning and performing nursing care and medical treatments. During our pulse rounds, all our employees have the opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge with all our professions.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse with the eligibility to work within Swedish healthcare. You have language skills in Swedish at least corresponding to level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale.

You find pre- and postoperative care exciting and enjoy working with both hands and mind. As a person, you are flexible, engaged, and have good organizational and collaboration skills. Furthermore, you thrive working in teams and always keep the patient in focus during your work. We place great importance on personal suitability.
