About the Department
The Planning and Development Department is part of the Education Administration's support staff. This also includes the departments for Finance and Administration, HR and Communication, and Digitalization and Innovation.
The Planning and Development Department works, among other things, with administration-wide issues such as planning and follow-up of political goals and assignments, statistics, consultation responses, and decision-making materials for the administration leadership and boards. The department is also responsible for coordinating the principal's systematic quality work, school development, and education based on scientific grounds. The Quality and Planning Unit works, among other things, with planning and dimensioning of the upper secondary school organization, admission of students to the upper secondary school's introduction programs, and transitions between school forms.
Job Responsibilities
In this role as Planning Manager, you play a key role in admitting students to introduction programs where selection is not based on grades. This primarily concerns Language Introduction and Individual Alternative, but also Vocational Introduction and Program-oriented Choice for individual students. The unit is currently involved in an administration-wide project to develop the municipal upper secondary schools' introduction programs and is in an exciting phase of finding new ways of working and processes for mapping and admitting students. This is to best meet individual conditions and needs and increase student goal achievement.
The assignment includes tasks such as:
- assessing newly arrived students' knowledge using the Swedish National Agency for Education's mapping materials prior to admission to Language Introduction
- working with the admission of students to other introduction programs, primarily Individual Alternative
- participating in the work of directing students to the introduction programs during the school year
- coordinating student cases that require collaboration with several parties to find a suitable educational placement. This can involve students who have moved in, students who have been in social care, etc.
- coordinating the administration's work regarding so-called "early school collaboration" together with the Swedish Public Employment Service
- participating in the work of developing processes and ways of working, which may also include improvements to data systems such as Indra, IST, and other administrative tools and routines
You will meet with students to map their educational background, language skills, etc., with the aim of finding a suitable school placement.
You will maintain a large network of contacts with, among others, study and career counselors, special education teachers, principals, handover coordinators, and reception coordinators. The work involves you independently and together with others driving processes and collaboration both internally and externally. You can always count on support and good cooperation with your colleagues in the department. There is a team on the unit with several people working together with similar issues.
Qualifications
You have relevant higher education and experience of working in upper secondary school or in the higher grades of primary school. It is meritorious if you have experience as a special education teacher, and/or have worked as a teacher in an introduction program or with admission to introduction programs. It is also meritorious to have experience in assessing levels in Swedish as a second language using "Bygga svenska" (Building Swedish).
As a person, you are outgoing with a developed sense of responsibility and initiative. The job places high demands on good collaboration skills. You are unpretentious and confident in communicating and building good relationships. The job requires good ability to communicate in Swedish, both verbally and in writing.
It is important that you have a structured way of working and can drive the work forward on your own. A sometimes high work pace and working against deadlines is nothing you are unfamiliar with. You have great experience and good knowledge of working in different data systems.
Other
Do not wait with your application! Interviews are conducted continuously during the application period.
For your interview, you need to bring a passport/national ID and possibly proof of residence permit if you have citizenship outside the EU/EES. This is because, as an employer, we need to verify your identity and ensure that you have the right to work in Sweden.
With reference to the laws regulating register checks, anyone offered this position must produce an extract from the criminal record register before an employment contract can be drawn up.
For positions where there are educational requirements, you will be asked to provide documentation proving your education, e.g., license or degree certificate, if you proceed in the recruitment process. You can also attach them directly to your application.
