A key role close to operations

Have you worked for a long time as a lawyer in a large organization and felt that you have sometimes ended up a bit too far from the actual operations? Perhaps it is time to get closer to reality again?

At Alvesta Municipal Group, you will have a key role where you work close to both operations and decision-makers – and where your expertise makes a real difference every day.

As Group Legal Counsel, you provide legal support and advice to all of the municipality's departments and companies. The assignment is broad and spans several areas of law, with a focus on municipal law, administrative law, and corporate law.

Responsibilities

You work closely with political leadership, managers, and employees throughout the organization. Our operations often have high competence within their respective legal areas – your role is to contribute an overarching legal perspective. You interpret, weigh, and provide guidance in complex and sometimes cross-boundary issues, where the law needs to function in practice. You also handle your own cases and collaborate with colleagues in the organization. In the long term, the role may also include the position of Data Protection Officer.

You represent the municipality in legal matters and can act as a representative in disputes if necessary. You also conduct information and training initiatives and contribute to strengthening legal competence within the organization. You have experience in contract drafting, working to reach agreements, and you have a good understanding of tactics, strategy, and legal consequences in negotiations. The role also includes developing working methods, routines, and governing documents to ensure high legal certainty, as well as assisting in the preparation of decision materials for political decisions.

At our organization, there is currently no established legal function, which gives you the opportunity to help shape how the work should function moving forward. There is room for both experience, judgment, and a desire to do things in a slightly smarter and more operationally close way.

Organizationally, you will belong to the secretariat unit of the Municipal Executive Office, where we are responsible for the political decision-making apparatus, information security, digital operational development, and security and emergency preparedness issues. Qualifications

• Law degree (270 ECTS)
• Broad legal competence with experience in municipal law, administrative law, and corporate law
• Several years of experience in qualified legal work, preferably within the public sector
• Ability to independently drive cases and processes forward
• Very good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English
• Experience in working advisory and close to operations
