Are you interested in working with permitting and supervision to protect valuable natural environments this autumn?

Description

This position is located within the Nature Conservation Unit, where 19 dedicated colleagues work with permitting and supervision in nature conservation based on the provisions of the Environmental Code. We are currently seeking temporary support for our friendly unit during the autumn.

Responsibilities

Here, you will have a varied role in our mission to preserve and highlight the county's nature values. Together with the team, you will work with permitting and supervision of valuable natural environments and species in accordance with the Environmental Code and other directives and regulations. Depending on your competence, your tasks may include:

  • Processing cases regarding coastal protection, habitat protection, species protection, and water activities, as well as consultations regarding, for example, solar power parks. You will assess the impact on natural environments and species and make decisions in accordance with current legislation and practice.
  • Supervision according to the Environmental Code.
  • Expert support on nature conservation issues to other units and departments of the County Administrative Board in their work with case processing.
  • Other tasks within the field of nature conservation may also become relevant based on operational needs.

The work is independent in that you are responsible for advancing your cases, while also being a team effort where you are part of a working group that makes joint assessments.

Fieldwork is a natural part of the supervision work, but desk work is predominant.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A relevant university or college degree in natural sciences, including education in the Environmental Code, or another education that we consider equivalent.
  • Good ability to communicate and express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish.
  • Good IT skills and experience with the Office package and other digital tools.
  • A valid B-class driver's license.

Merits include:

  • Experience in processing nature conservation cases at a County Administrative Board or other relevant authority.
  • Good knowledge of species.
  • Experience and ability to work with administrative tasks.
  • Experience working with GIS tools.

To function well in the role of a nature conservation case officer, you need to be structured, have good collaboration skills, and a knack for administrative tasks. It is important that you have a good ability to see the big picture and make balanced assessments, as our work involves taking into account different interests and perspectives. You need to be able to combine clear public authority enforcement with constructive dialogue, adapting your communication to different target groups. The role combines independent work with collaboration with colleagues and external actors. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities.
