At the Department of Diagnostics and Intervention, we conduct research and teach within nine different subject areas in close collaboration with the four Norrland regions. We have internationally recognized research environments where the breadth of disciplines enables innovation and cross-boundary collaboration. Most of our researchers and teachers work clinically, and our premises are located at the regional hospitals in Östersund, Sunderbyn, Sundsvall, and Umeå – right in the heart of the operations.

We are now looking for an Economist for a permanent full-time position, available immediately or by agreement. You will become part of an administrative team working with finance, HR, communication, and student administration.

Responsibilities

In the role of Economist, you will provide qualified and advisory support to managers and research leaders on financial matters. You will be responsible for presenting finance-related items at departmental meetings and keeping up to date with current guidelines from the Faculty of Medicine and the University’s financial functions.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Budgeting, forecasting, and final accounts
• Reporting on EU projects and supporting applications and the launch of new projects
• Monitoring and reporting on research projects and educational economics
• Ongoing financial administration, such as handling supplier and customer invoices

Other administrative tasks may also arise.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a relevant university degree or equivalent work experience. You have several years of experience in qualified financial work in a larger organization, preferably within a university or college. You express yourself well orally and in writing in both Swedish and English, and have good knowledge of the Office suite.

It is meritorious to have a good understanding of the financial conditions prevailing in the collaboration between the university and Region Västerbotten. Experience working with ALF funds and knowledge of research funding from both the university's and the region's perspective is particularly valuable, as these financial relationships place high demands on analytical skills and a holistic view.

To thrive and succeed in the role, you need the ability to create clear and purposeful structures and to explain financial connections in a pedagogical manner. You are analytical, meticulous, development-oriented, and collaborate well. You take responsibility for your tasks and actively contribute to the department's development. Personal suitability will be given great weight.
