The Education Administration is one of Mjölby Municipality's six administrations and is responsible for preschool, compulsory school, upper secondary school, adapted compulsory and upper secondary school, and adult education. With approximately 1,000 employees, we offer education that promotes all children and students in lifelong learning, working towards the goal of "high knowledge results in a school where everyone can and wants to be." We place great emphasis on working close to operations through regular dialogue and support for school leaders and teachers based on the chain of command.

Väderstad School is a school with an associated after-school center located in the community of Väderstad on the Östgötan plain. Approximately 17 people work at the school, and together we are responsible for approximately 125 students from preschool class to grade 6. Our staff includes teachers at the beginning of their careers and teachers with many years of experience. Väderstad School has partially newly renovated facilities and a large schoolyard that invites to varied activity opportunities.

Job Responsibilities

As a student assistant with us, your main task is to be the bridge between knowledge and the student's ability. You work as a close pedagogical support in teaching and ensure that the school day becomes understandable and manageable. You use picture support and signs as natural aids in daily communication.

The role of student assistant means being support and a resource for an individual student or a few students. This means being present as support for the student(s) regarding practical and social challenges that arise during a school day. You are present during lessons to clarify the teacher's instructions and are an extra adult who can support in schoolwork. You work actively to strengthen the student's independence and participation in the school community.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have upper secondary education as a childcare worker or vocational training as a student assistant. Experience in equivalent roles is meritorious.

You have a good ability to work with other people, to listen, and to be empathetic and respectful. You are also unpretentious and notice and reward others' contributions. In your role, you have a good ability to create and maintain relationships, and you collaborate well with people in different roles and contexts.

You have the ability to adapt to changed conditions and you encourage and support change work.

You are secure and have the ability to perform in a pressured environment and handle difficult situations. You remain optimistic in the face of challenges and have the ability to relate constructively to feedback.
