Associate Chief Physician for Abdominal Wall Team – Department of Surgery and Gastroenterology

The Department of Surgery and Gastroenterology provides comprehensive basic and highly specialized care within surgical and gastroenterological fields. We are a large unit providing inpatient and outpatient surgical care in Lund, Malmö, and Landskrona. Within the surgical discipline, a large number of patients with varying surgical conditions are treated and finalized, both in planned and emergency operations. Patient care is multidisciplinary, with the ambition to offer the highest quality care based on science and respect for patients. Education for all categories of healthcare personnel, medical students, and resident doctors (AT/ST) is extensive. Additionally, there is significant research activity, both clinical and experimental, within the department.

Responsibilities
We are now looking for an Associate Chief Physician for the Abdominal Wall Team. As an employee here, you have opportunities to develop within the section's activities. On-call duties (house and/or back-up on-call) in Malmö are included in the position. As an employee at Skånes University Hospital, teaching is included in both medical education and specialist training, as well as for other professional groups. You are also expected to be research-active.
Your place of work is Malmö, with a significant part of the duties performed in Landskrona.
Qualifications
You, as a candidate, are a licensed physician with the right to practice in Swedish healthcare and have:
- Specialist competence in surgery with subspecialization in abdominal wall surgery.
- Swedish language skills at least corresponding to level C1 according to the Council of Europe scale.
- Completed or planned course in clinical supervision.
- Full-time employment for at least three years (documented effective time).
- Clinical skill and independence within the main specialty beyond the obtained specialist competence.
- Documented teaching and supervision merits.
Doctoral degree (disputation) and/or specialist diploma can be credited for a total of six months of clinical employment.
As a person, you have a positive attitude and enjoy collaborating with colleagues and other professional categories. You have a good ability to identify areas for development and are interested in developing the activity together with us. Great importance is attached to personal suitability.
In a university healthcare unit, physicians are required to have pedagogical experience and education. This can be acquired through supervising, for example, nursing and medical students, as well as doctors in training, and as co-supervisor or main supervisor for doctoral students. Clearly describe in your application completed or planned pedagogical courses, experience of supervision and teaching at different levels.
