The Neuro Intensive Care Unit (NIVA) in Lund provides highly specialized intensive care and is part of the Business Area (VO) for Neurosurgery and Pain Rehabilitation. We have a regional mandate to serve the entire Southern Healthcare Region with highly specialized neuro-intensive care. NIVA has six intensive care beds where we primarily treat patients with severe head and/or spinal cord injuries. We are a high-tech intensive care unit driven by a desire to achieve medical results of the highest quality.

NIVA also includes an Intermediate Care Unit (IMA) with five beds, where we treat acute patients requiring intermediate care. The unit also functions as a step-down unit for patients who no longer require intensive care. The care needs on the IMA can vary from advanced care to lighter monitoring. We also have a postoperative unit with four beds where we provide postoperative care for newly operated patients. Newly operated children are also treated on the postoperative unit.

The Neurosurgical Department in Lund is one of six units in Sweden performing neurosurgery. We operate 24/7 on our surgical department, and we also have an inpatient ward, day care activities, and a clinic. Approximately 300 people work within the department, of whom 100 work at NIVA.

Job Description

We offer a stimulating and varied work environment with satisfying and challenging tasks. Working as an Intensive Care Nurse (ICN) at NIVA means you will have a varied job with rapid changes. We work in a high-tech environment where, in addition to standard intensive care equipment, we use a wide range of neuromonitoring devices. The patient with head or spinal injuries is our focus, and several research projects are conducted at the unit to develop neuro-intensive care. The department is staff-intensive, and our diverse competencies benefit our operations.

Upon starting your employment with us, you will be offered an induction program tailored to your needs. If you are an experienced Intensive Care Nurse, you will have a strong foundation when you join us. If you are a newly graduated Intensive Care Nurse, we offer a longer induction period adapted to support you in your new professional role. Additionally, you will be assigned two supervisors to guide you through your first period. At NIVA, we actively engage in knowledge-seeking and regularly offer lectures and training. We value knowledge development and allocate resources for responsibilities, projects, and studies at universities and colleges.

We have a popular point-based salary system where you can choose your own work schedule. We work in three shifts with a weekly working time of 36.33 hours. If you wish to schedule most of your working hours for night shifts, this is possible. The position is full-time, but part-time work is also an option.

Qualifications

We welcome you if you are a licensed nurse with the eligibility to work in Swedish healthcare. Additionally, you must have a specialist degree in Intensive Care Nursing. Proficiency in Swedish language at a minimum level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale is required. Experience in neurosurgical care is considered an asset.
