Cardiology in Malmö is a large and important part of cardiology at Skåne University Hospital (Sus). The department consists of a large ward with 30 beds divided into three flows; coronary, arrhythmia, and heart failure and valve. The section includes extensive outpatient clinics, laboratories for echocardiography and coronary angiography/PCI, as well as pacemaker surgeries.

Cardiology staffs three own duty lines. Primary duty, backup duty, and ECHO duty. The medical staffing consists of approximately 24 specialist-competent cardiologists, plus 12 resident doctors (ST-läkare) and substitute junior doctors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Section for Heart Disease Care with a focus on the arrhythmia flow in Malmö is now seeking a Consultant Physician, Assistant Consultant Physician, or Specialist Physician.

You are expected to independently round on patients on the ward, outpatient activities, consultative work, and work towards intensive and acute care. You are expected to independently handle device follow-up. Competence in device surgery is meritorious but not a requirement for the position.

Based on your merits and competence, you will be offered a position as Consultant Physician, Assistant Consultant Physician, or Specialist Physician.

QUALIFICATIONS

You who apply are a licensed physician with permission to work within Swedish healthcare. You have specialist competence in cardiology and experience and knowledge in arrhythmology. You are expected to independently handle device follow-up. Competence in device surgery is meritorious but not a requirement for the position. Language skills in Swedish at least corresponding to level C1 according to the Council of Europe scale are a requirement. You must have completed or planned a course in clinical supervision.

For the position of Assistant Consultant Physician, in addition to the above requirements for a specialist physician, you must also have:

• at least 5 years of clinical service and independence within the main specialty in addition to obtained specialist competence, clinical skill, and that you are established as backup duty
• at least one defined medical responsibility and knowledge area
• documented teaching and/or supervisory merits

For the position of Consultant Physician, in addition to the above:

• that you have a PhD

Doctoral degree and/or specialist exam can be credited for a total of six months of clinical service.

Research merits are meritorious. You need to have good cooperation skills, be interested in taking on new challenges, and have the ability to adapt to changed circumstances. Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.

At a university healthcare unit, physicians are required to have pedagogical experience and education. This you may have acquired through supervision of, for example, nursing and medical students as well as doctors in training and as co- or main supervisor of doctoral candidates. Clearly describe in your application completed or planned pedagogical courses, experience of supervision and teaching at different levels.
