Sigrid Rudebeck's Gymnasium is looking for a School Counselor

Sigrid Rudebeck's Gymnasium is an independent, foundation-owned upper secondary school founded in 1869. Located centrally on Bellmansgatan in central Gothenburg, the school has approximately 550 students divided between the Social Science and Natural Science programs. We offer our students a safe and stimulating learning environment with a long tradition of offering a wide range of elective aesthetic courses.

As our regular school counselor will be on parental leave during the 2026–27 academic year, we are now seeking a substitute school counselor. In this role, you will work together with the pedagogical staff, the principal, and the rest of the student health team to prevent ill health and promote student well-being at the school. We are looking for a counselor with a strong interest and commitment to young people, along with experience working in an upper secondary school setting.

Competency Profile

You hold a degree in social work (sociologist) or a comparable higher education qualification. We prefer candidates with a few years of experience working with young people, preferably within an upper secondary school. Documented experience in preventive work at both group and individual levels is considered an asset.

As a school counselor, you place great importance on building trusting relationships with students in a structured manner. You meet with and support students both in groups and individually. You collaborate naturally with teaching colleagues on initiatives that strengthen group dynamics and create a sense of security. You are also responsible for the school's systematic follow-up of student attendance.

Your work involves group discussions on safety, well-being, as well as values and equal treatment issues. You use digital documentation systems in your daily work and take the initiative to collaborate with authorities, organizations, and other relevant support functions. You lead meetings with guardians regarding student health matters, always prioritizing good treatment and professional conduct.
