Associate Chief Physician in Occupational and Environmental Dermatology – Malmö

The Occupational and Environmental Dermatology Department (YMDA) in Malmö is part of the dermatology services at Skåne University Hospital (Sus). YMDA covers the entire Southern Healthcare Region and also serves as a national NHV (National Expert Centre for Occupational Dermatology) clinic, resulting in approximately 4,000 visits annually.

The department provides highly specialized care, including outpatient services for specific areas of dermatovenerology such as eczema/contact allergy, other environmental dermatological conditions, and dental allergy problems. A well-equipped laboratory with extensive chemical expertise enables highly specialized contact allergy investigations. Teaching and research are important and integrated parts of the department's activities. There is close collaboration between doctors, counselors, healthcare staff, and chemists regarding patient care, as well as outward-facing work aimed at preventing potential allergens in the environment and workplaces. The department has 25 employees.

Job Description

As an Associate Chief Physician, you will work in the outpatient clinic as part of a team consisting of doctors, research nurses, chemists, laboratory staff, and secretaries. In addition to outpatient duties, the role involves extensive external contacts with authorities such as the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, the Swedish Public Employment Service, and patients' employers. Workplace visits within Region Skåne are a natural part of the assignment. The work is independent and requires specialist training as a dermatovenereologist, as well as experience and knowledge in occupational and environmental dermatology.

Qualifications

You are a licensed physician with eligibility to practice in Swedish healthcare and possess:

• Specialist competence in dermatology and venereology
• Swedish language skills at least at level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale
• Completed or planned course in clinical supervision
• Full-time employment for at least three years (documented effective time)
• Clinical proficiency and independence in occupational and environmental dermatology
• Documented teaching and supervisory merits

You should have defended a doctoral thesis and be interested in supervision and research. A doctoral degree and/or specialist diploma can be credited as a total of six months of clinical employment.

You have the ability to work independently as well as collaborate with other professional groups at the clinic. As a person, you are meticulous, flexible, and responsible, with strong organizational and collaborative skills. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Pedagogical Experience

At a university healthcare unit, physicians are required to have pedagogical experience and education. This can be acquired through supervising, for example, nursing and medical students, as well as doctors in training, and as co-supervisor or main supervisor for doctoral students.
