Gårdstensskolan's Adaptated Comprehensive School is a school for students with intellectual disabilities. Here, we work based on each student's individual needs and prerequisites. We have three classes: grades 4–6 with 6 students studying subjects, grades 6–9 with 8 students studying subjects, and grades 4–9 with 7 students studying subject areas.

We are now looking for a special needs teacher who will join the working group for grades 4–9, specifically for classes with students studying subjects.

The school is located at Angeredsvinkeln 21, close to the natural areas of Vättlefjäll and Lärjeån, as well as Angered Center. It is easy to get here by bus and tram. Responsibilities

For our students, it is important to have a low-affective approach, AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), and clear pedagogy. We work according to the adapted comprehensive school's curriculum for subjects. We share the school building with the comprehensive school, which gives us good conditions for cooperation between the comprehensive school and the adapted comprehensive school based on the students' best interests. In addition to teachers, teaching assistants also work at the school. We plan, develop, and implement the students' education. We are tasked with being flexible and seeing opportunities before obstacles.

You will teach and work in a working group consisting of teachers and teaching assistants. The position involves teaching in grade 6–9, where you are responsible for planning, implementation, analysis, and information regarding the pedagogical work. Here, you work closely with colleagues in the adapted comprehensive school as well as with educators at the comprehensive school, as we have students who are included in several classes in the subjects of crafts and home economics. We plan together, cooperate, and assess together to create a safe and developmental learning environment, and you contribute to driving the operations forward.

Your work includes being the pedagogical leader for the teaching assistants. Leading for learning and mentoring teaching assistants are part of the responsibilities. You have good knowledge of didactics and subject knowledge and work based on our steering documents.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a certified special needs teacher or expect to graduate as a special needs teacher within 6 months. We would like you to have a broad qualification in your comprehensive school certificate. Experience with adapted comprehensive school is meritorious, preferably with a focus on subjects.

We also want you to be familiar with ICT (Information and Communication Technology) both in teaching and as a work tool. If you also have knowledge about early reading and writing acquisition, that is also meritorious. You are well acquainted with the adapted comprehensive school's steering documents and want to develop the pedagogical operations based on the students' needs and prerequisites.

As a person, you take responsibility for your and the common tasks with the operation's best interest in focus. You have a positive attitude and adapt easily to yourself and your way of working. You cooperate well and are good at creating good relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians. You capture the students' interest and curiosity so that learning becomes joyful.
