Do you care about the rights of placed children and want to develop in guiding and supporting foster homes? Then you might be our new colleague! One of our foster home secretaries is moving on to work with other tasks within the unit, and we need a new star.
Do you want to contribute to ensuring that placed children and young people receive the best possible support? Here, as a foster home secretary, you have the opportunity to contribute to creating a good and safe upbringing environment for children placed in foster homes. You play a key role by investigating, guiding, and supporting the families who take in children into their homes. Could this be something for you?
The Business Area Children, Young People, and Families in Hägersten-Älvsjö consists of the units: reception, children, children and youth, youth, foster homes, and family support. Our business area is led by a district manager and six unit managers. Together, we move forward and help each other create a social services department that is modern and characterized by high quality.
The Foster Home Unit consists of three groups led by two group leaders and one coordinator. One group consists of foster home secretaries, recruiters, and family workers, while another group consists of child secretaries and employees providing administrative support/case handling support. The third group consists of contact secretaries. We also have an ongoing initiative with strengthened support for foster homes where two family workers work within the unit.
Here at the Foster Home Unit, it is never monotonous. We have very varied tasks, and no day is like the other. The work includes, among other things, travel to placed children, within Stockholm or across the country. The group consists of several different roles that collaborate and support each other. Here, many different personalities and experiences are gathered, and this dynamic gives a lot of energy. Although we work with difficult issues, we also have a lot of fun together.
We offer
As support for foster home secretaries and child secretaries to conduct social work of good quality, we have developed case-handler-close support through an administrator and special emergency home case handlers. Here, you have good opportunities for competence development based on the unit's competence supply plan, and you are actively involved in developing the provision of high-quality support. To ensure a good start in your new workplace, we place great importance on your introduction, and you will receive support from our competent mentors. In addition to regular case handling guidance with management, you will receive external supervision every fourth week in Gamla Stan.

Your role
Your main tasks are to investigate, provide support and guidance, and follow up on foster homes. Around each child and young person, there is a foster home secretary and a child secretary who plan and follow up the care for the placed child. The work involves travel both in the local area and to other parts of Sweden. We work according to BBIC with support from Signs of Safety, applicable legislation, and based on the City of Stockholm's guidelines.
The Social Board's responsibility is to closely monitor and evaluate the care of the child/young person in the foster home. The focus for the foster home secretary is to support and guide the foster home to ensure the child/young person a safe and secure care.
Your competence and experience
We are looking for you who have:
- A degree in Social Work (Social Work degree)
- Experience in authority practice
- Experience in foster care
- Good teamwork skills
- Ease in expressing yourself both verbally and in writing
It is meritorious if you have:
- Kälvesten Method
- Supervision of foster homes
- MI (Motivational Interviewing)
- Category B driver's license
As a foster home secretary, you need to have personal maturity and be a secure and stable person. You need to have good empathy skills, which you combine with the ability to create good relationships with those you collaborate with. You have problem-solving analytical skills and are confident in making decisions. You value differences and understand that background, culture, and group affiliation can affect yourself and others in different ways. Since the work involves meeting people in crisis and/or with a complex life situation, it is very important that you yourself can see opportunities, convey hope, and treat people in a respectful manner.
