We are looking for

Clinical Assistant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Oral Medicine, Section 2, Faculty of Odontology.

Content and Responsibilities

As a clinical assistant, you will primarily supervise students' clinical skills training. Some teaching in theoretical aspects of the subject may also occur. You will also conduct your own patient treatment at the clinic.

Qualifications

Eligible for employment as a clinical assistant is anyone who has completed a dental degree or who is admitted or has already been admitted to doctoral-level education in dentistry (Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 5, Section 10).

In addition to formal competence, university employees must possess the personal skills needed to perform the duties well and to represent the university in the best possible way.

Emphasis will be placed on personal suitability, such as pedagogical ability, curiosity, and the ability to engage others in a good learning environment. We are looking for someone who is flexible, enjoys working in a team, and has an eye for structure and good planning. You are interested in an academic career within the subject area and can envision working as a teacher at the Faculty of Odontology in the future.

Specific requirements for this position:

• Swedish dental license and current clinical proficiency
• Good command of Swedish, both spoken and written
• Experience in surgical and oral medical investigation and treatment
• Good teamwork skills

Desirable qualifications for this position:

• Good documented experience in general dentistry and documented interest in the subject
• Interest and experience in teaching, especially problem-based learning
• You are interested in an academic career within the subject area and can envision working as a teacher at the Faculty of Odontology in the future.

Faculty, Section, and Research Environment

At the Faculty of Odontology, we conduct research and education in dentistry in the broadest sense. Research spans a wide spectrum: from molecular biological studies to clinical and public health studies of oral health across different generations, social classes, and groups. Here, we train dentists, dental hygienists, dental technicians, and future specialist dentists.

We also provide university dental care in the form of one of the region's largest dental clinics, treating approximately 10,000 patients annually.

In 2025, the Faculty was awarded a research profile by the KK Foundation: “Advancing Oral Health”. The profile’s goal is to reduce the burden of oral and systemic ill-health associated with oral health problems through clinic-integrated, interdisciplinary research. The profile offers innovative and evidence-based dental care – where our research discoveries are translated into concrete benefits for patients. The research profile is a comprehensive strategic initiative at the faculty where an associate professor has great opportunities to contribute and develop.

Section

Section 2 covers prosthodontics, materials science and technology, periodontology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, oral medicine, and the dental technician program.
