Värmdö is the meeting point of the archipelago, offering a unique combination of nature's quiet beauty and a more urban lifestyle. Our mission is not just one but many: schools, properties, social services, harbors, healthcare, libraries, elderly care, and many more. We strive to ensure that all residents of Värmdö can live a rich and free life. We want to be the ones who make the dream of a vibrant, secure environment for home, family, and business possible.
To succeed fully, we need diverse competencies and must work together to build a common and trust-based work culture, built on courageous, responsible employees who understand the needs and wishes of the citizens.
Our Operations
Welcome to Värmdö Municipality and the Child and Youth Unit – a team of 35 employees working with investigations, interventions, family law, and family care. Within family care, we are a tightly knit group: two family home secretaries, three child welfare officers, a special educator, and a team leader, all driven by a shared desire to make a difference for children and young people who need a secure place to grow up.
Our mission is meaningful and socially important. We are responsible for monitoring children placed in emergency and family homes, and the family home secretaries play a central role in recruiting, investigating, and supervising the families who take in children in their homes. The work is carried out in close collaboration with placed children, biological families, and service providers.
At our workplace, a professional climate prevails where quality and legal certainty guide everything we do – but never at the expense of warmth in our meetings with the people we serve. We offer continuous competence development, regular supervision, and collegial support where we help each other and learn from one another. Here, you make a real difference in children's lives, every day.
Since January 2024, Värmdö Municipality has implemented a project where, during the period 2024-2026, working hours are scheduled so that you as a social secretary work every 7th Friday. You are off on the other Fridays.
Your Role
As a family home secretary with us, you work with recruiting and investigating family homes using Kälvesten or a corresponding method, conduct matches prior to placement in family homes, and provide supervision and ongoing support to family homes during active assignments. In this role, you continuously collaborate with child welfare officers responsible for the placed child, biological parents, schools, healthcare, and other actors, ensuring that documentation and follow-up are carried out in accordance with the Social Services Act and current guidelines. A B-driver's license is required as travel for work purposes occurs.
Your Experience
Requirements
- Social Work Degree (Social Worker)
- At least 2 years of experience as a family home secretary
- Experience in recruiting, investigating, and supervising family homes
- Training in Kälvesten or another evidence-based investigation method for family homes
- B-driver's license
Meritorious qualifications:
- Experience in authority decision-making within child and youth services (social services)
- Training in Signs of Belonging
- Experience with evidence-based methods for structured supervision of family homes
- Experience with evidence-based methods to support and strengthen family homes in their assignments
Your Personal Qualities
You are an independent and structured social worker with a genuine commitment to the well-being of children and young people. You work with quality awareness and take responsibility for ensuring your investigations meet high standards of legal certainty. At the same time, you are warm in your interactions with people and have good teamwork skills – you thrive in a team but drive your work forward independently when needed.
We see that you are proactive and not afraid to take responsibility in complex situations. Your ability to communicate clearly – with family homes, children, and colleagues – is central to the role. You are stable and resilient, maintaining focus and professionalism even in challenging situations. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
Application
We look forward to your application and hope you want to become part of our operations. Selection and interviews take place continuously during the recruitment period, so please submit your application as soon as possible.
Värmdö Municipality offers a wellness allowance, an SL public transport card against net salary deduction, and holiday exchange for extra days off. We also actively work to create health-promoting workplaces with a good work environment and apply smoke-free working hours.
