ABOUT THE SCHOOL

Kulturama Elementary School in Sundbyberg is a profile school with approximately 50 dedicated staff members and 500 creative students in grades 4–9. The school offers three specific profiles: Visual Arts and Design, Music and Song, and Musical. Our students, who come from all over Greater Stockholm and its surroundings, actively choose to apply to us due to our unique focus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be part of the school's student health team together with a special education teacher, school nurse, special needs teacher, principal, deputy principal, and school psychologist. The student health team collaborates closely with the school's pedagogical staff, who are organized in work groups.

You will work preventively and health-promoting through interventions at the individual, group, and organizational levels. You will actively participate in the students' school day and work on building relationships.

The student health team strives to work primarily preventively and health-promoting for the students' safety and goal fulfillment, but there are also elements of remedial interventions.

As a school counselor, you are the school's expert in social legislation and psychosocial issues. You collaborate extensively with other agencies, such as social services and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS/BUP).

Your responsibilities include:

• Working to promote and prevent by actively participating in various contexts during the students' school day
• Social investigation and mapping work
• Counseling with students, individually and in groups
• Counseling with guardians and referral to external support when needed
• Participation in collaboration meetings. Collaboration with other actors around the student, such as CAMHS, social services, etc.
• Crisis and conflict management
• Supervision and support for pedagogues regarding questions concerning the students' social situation
• Support to colleagues before, or alternatively participating in, difficult conversations and contacts with guardians
• Collaboration during transitions between different grades and schools
• Leading the systematic quality work within the area of safety and well-being
• Documentation in ProRenata
• You are the school's attendance officer, follow up and check in, and take measures in collaboration with the mentor and student health team in cases of problematic school absenteeism

QUALIFICATIONS

As a person, you are structured and work according to clear processes. You have an interest in developing existing processes, or creating new routines if necessary. You have the ability to conduct independent curative work. You plan and organize much of your work independently. You complete the tasks you start and do so within the specified time.

As a counselor, we place great emphasis on your ability as a person to build relationships with students and others you meet. You can find creative solutions to build relationships and initiate conversations when needed. You are comfortable with uncomfortable or difficult conversations for the sake of the students' best interests and stand firm in your professional role even when the contexts are sometimes uncertain. You collaborate professionally with many different external partners from various municipalities, healthcare facilities, etc. You dare to say what you think and have the ability to keep the student's best interest in focus and convey this professionally.

Requirements

• Social work degree or education and experience equivalent to a social work degree.
• Previous work experience as a school counselor

Medborgarskolan is a study association with a wide range of courses, a large music operation, and collaboration with associations and groups in many different subjects. The participants are of all ages and with different backgrounds and interests.
