About the School

Uppsala Musikklasser started its operations in 1982 and today has over 520 students in grades 3–9 with a focus on choir or orchestra. In addition to music, the school is characterized by good academic results and a high sense of security. The school has approximately 50 employees and is a non-profit independent school managed by the Uppsala Musikklasser Foundation. The school is currently located in a beautiful building on Seminariegatan. We are now looking for a new employee within our choir profile.

About the Position

You will work with singing classes in grades 3–9 together with our other music teachers. The school has a developed two-teacher system, meaning each grade level has two music teachers. Some teaching at the upper secondary level may also occur.

In addition to choir singing, you will also teach music theory, music history, creative composition, and group playing on the instruments drums, bass, guitar, and piano in accordance with the goals of the curriculum. The position also includes mentorship duties.

The school has an extensive concert activity and performs both choral and orchestral works together with professional musicians and vocal soloists. We also have concerts with professional musicians in Uppsala, such as Trio X and the Linnaeus Quintet, in concert venues like UKK and the Cathedral.

Qualifications

You are trained as a choir pedagogue or choir conductor and hold a pedagogical degree and teaching license. You have a good understanding of how people can absorb knowledge from different prerequisites and you can adapt the way you convey your message to the recipient. You are expected to be able to work at a high musical level in both classical and popular music genres.

About the Process

Interviews will be conducted continuously during the application period, and the position may be filled before the final application date. A work sample is included as part of the recruitment process.

If you proceed in the process, you must be able to provide a certificate of good conduct (extract from the criminal record).

The start date is 2026-08-11, and we apply a 6-month probationary period.
