About the job
In the role of Support Assistant within Housing Support, you will provide support, service, and care to adults with mental, intellectual, and neuropsychiatric disabilities.
The support covers all areas of life and usually takes place in the individual's home.
The assignment aims to motivate and strengthen each person's own resources. The support is based on implementation plans created together with the users.
The work involves assisting our users with all household tasks, contacting authorities, guiding and showing venues in the local area, and supporting users in finding meaningful leisure activities or employment.
Daily work includes collaboration with colleagues within the unit and with important contacts outside the home, as well as social documentation and delegated healthcare interventions. The work involves independent work, providing support in the user's home.
You will receive support through a support pedagog and through team meetings.
The position is primarily scheduled during daytime hours, may include occasional evenings according to the employment contract, and the working hours are 40 hours per week. Working hours are based on the needs of the operation and time distribution is discussed with colleagues and management at the unit.
About you
We are looking for you who have a degree from the Care and Nursing program, the Support Assistant education, or the Child and Youth program with a focus on social or pedagogical work. The educational requirement is also met if you have a post-secondary specialization in the disability field comprising at least 200 YH credits, 120 university credits, or a combination thereof equivalent to at least four semesters of full-time studies. Alternatively, 60 university credits and at least two years of experience working with support and services for people with disabilities. The education must have relevant credits in behavioral science, pedagogy, psychology, social work, and (psychiatric) care, or other education that the employer deems equivalent.
All social documentation is digital, so you need to be proficient with computers. You must master the Swedish language in speech and writing, which implies a requirement of passing grades in Swedish 1, Swedish as a Second Language 1, or equivalent. Those who do not meet the qualification requirements may be offered a language test through the test provider EducateIt.
A Class B driver's license is required as we have long travel distances and a car may need to be used in many cases.
The position also requires that you are independent and capable of working alone.
If you also have experience with any of the following methods: AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), LAB (Low-Affect Approach), Motivational Interviewing, or ESL (An Independent Life) and Clarifying Pedagogy, IBIC (The Individual's Needs at the Center), this is an advantage.
It is also meritorious if you have previous experience working within the Department for Disability Support.
You show respect for everyone you meet at work. You work to ensure the user gets what that person needs. You take responsibility for your and the shared tasks with the operation/users' best interests in focus. You listen to other people to understand their needs. You actively seek out others' opinions and perspectives and are receptive to them by showing respect, consideration, and care. You gain energy from contributing to others' learning and you create conditions for learning to take place. You set clear goals and plan activities and projects in good time. You use time efficiently and work systematically, organized, and methodically.
