Description

We are looking for dedicated teachers in wood and metal crafts (15%) for the Adapted Comprehensive School on Ilanda. The Adapted Comprehensive School is for children between 7 and 16 years old who have an intellectual disability or an acquired brain injury. In the Adapted Comprehensive School, the education is adapted to each student's prerequisites and needs. Students at the Adapted Comprehensive School on Ilanda are in grades 7 to 9.

Responsibilities

As a crafts teacher, your main task is to develop the students' knowledge and skills based on the curriculum and each student's individual needs and prerequisites. You plan the teaching by setting goals, choosing methods and materials, and preparing lessons. Together with the students, you evaluate the teaching to always strive to improve the teaching, the students' learning, and your professional learning.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with a teaching license in crafts. It is meritorious if you have eligibility for the Adapted Comprehensive School and experience teaching students with intellectual disabilities.

As a person, you easily create security and good relationships with both students and colleagues, and you are used to working independently as well as in teams. You are flexible and can quickly switch between different tasks – for example, from supporting an individual student with special needs to leading teaching for a whole group of students. You are sensitive to the students' daily condition and needs, and can adapt your approach accordingly. Your communication skills allow you to clearly explain tasks, calm down in stressful situations, and collaborate effectively with both colleagues and guardians.

The work can sometimes be mentally demanding, and it is important that you have the ability to remain calm, create structure, and build trusting relationships. At the same time, you get the opportunity to make a real difference in the students' daily lives – a mission that both challenges and gives back a lot.
