The position is located at the Department of Electricity Science within the Department of Electrical Engineering.

Description of the subject area of employment:

Electricity science with a focus on high-voltage technology.

Responsibilities

• Teaching, research, and administration. Teaching responsibilities include course coordination and course administration.
• Follow developments within one's own subject area and societal development in general that are relevant to work at the university.
• The position may involve strategic work and development work within the electrical engineering program.

Qualifications:

• Master of Science in Engineering and a PhD in Technology in Technical Physics, Electrical Engineering, and/or Applied Physics, or equivalent.
• Scientific and pedagogical competence or other professional competence. It is required that the pedagogical competence, scientific competence, and professional competence are relevant to the subject area of the employment and the tasks included in the position.
• The applicant must have completed higher education pedagogy relevant to university operations, comprising ten weeks, or have acquired equivalent knowledge. If there are special reasons, the higher education pedagogy course may be completed during the first two years of employment.
• Documented ability to teach in Swedish and English (unless special reasons apply).
• Personal qualities required to perform the duties of the position well.

Evaluation criteria for applicants who meet the above qualifications

In the selection among qualified applicants, particular weight will be given to both scientific and pedagogical competence, with special emphasis placed on pedagogical competence.

Scientific competence refers to research merits. In addition to academic merits, research merits from other activities, such as technical development and innovation capability, may also be considered. When assessing scientific competence, scientific quality will be the primary consideration. The scope of research, primarily depth and breadth, will also be significant. In assessing scientific competence, particular weight will be placed on research merits in high-voltage technology within electric fields, both AC and DC. The ability to independently absorb complex material, analyze, compile, and communicate results is also valued. Industrial experience with an international perspective within the power system area and high-voltage insulation is valued.

Furthermore, the ability to plan, initiate, lead, and develop research and education at the doctoral level, the ability to competitively obtain funding for research, and demonstrated ability to interact both within the scientific community and with the surrounding society will be given significance.

Pedagogical competence refers to educational and teaching merits. In addition to academic merits, educational and teaching merits from other activities, such as supervision, in-house training, or mentoring programs, may also be considered. When assessing pedagogical competence, pedagogical quality should be the primary consideration. The scope, both breadth and depth, should also be significant. In assessing pedagogical competence, particular weight will be placed on experience with pedagogical basic education at the university level, as well as experience teaching engineering programs at an advanced level and experience with strategic planning.

Furthermore, the ability to plan, initiate, lead, and develop education and teaching, as well as the ability to connect teaching to research from the perspective of research in the current subject, subject didactics, and higher education pedagogy, will be given significance. The ability to interact on higher education pedagogical issues with actors within and outside the university is also part of pedagogical competence.

Other competencies: Fluent Swedish, both written and oral, will be valued. In the selection among qualified applicants, particular weight will be placed on the ability to structure complex material, experience with program council work, and industrial experience, as well as experience with high-voltage insulation.

All merits must be documented so that both quality and scope can be assessed.

In this recruitment, the university will primarily consider the candidate who, after a qualitative holistic assessment of competence and skills, is judged to have the best prerequisites for carrying out and developing current tasks and contributing to a positive development of the operations.
