In a beautiful natural area close to both the sea and the forest, you will find Näsetskolan F-6 F and Åkeredsskolan F-6. The schools are part of the same school district and share a joint management team.

The schools' shared guiding principles, Safety – Collaboration – Knowledge, help us maintain our direction. We are now looking for a school counselor who focuses on safety.

The position is a fixed-term full-time employment from August 30 to December 31, with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities

As a school counselor, you are part of the school's student health team and contribute psychosocial competence at the organizational, group, and individual levels. Within the student health team, you collaborate with the school nurse, special education teacher, school psychologist, school doctor, and principal. The team's mission is to work health-promoting and preventive together with the principal and teaching staff to strengthen children's and young people's opportunities to achieve their goals.

As a counselor with us, you lead the safety teams at each respective school, where safety and promoting school attendance are central. Your duties also include student conversations, both individual and group-based, as well as meetings with guardians.

You have good verbal and written communication skills and will conduct social investigations and assessments prior to admission to adapted primary school, as well as investigations into student absenteeism. You document your work in PMO and have good knowledge of the Social Services Act and the Education Act.

You work together with other professions within the school to ensure all students are given the prerequisites to reach knowledge goals and develop socially. In addition to collaboration within the school, there is also cooperation with other authorities and actors outside the school, such as social services, habilitation services, UPH, and BUP.

Within the Primary School Administration, you participate in professional meetings once a month together with fellow counselors and professional developers, and participate in external supervision. Counselors in the administration work from a common job description. As a new counselor with us, you will receive a good introduction and a mentor.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a university degree in social work or equivalent education.

For the position, the following would also be meritorious:

• Experience working as a school counselor
• Experience working within social services
• Experience in promoting and preventive measures
• Education in counseling methods or supervision
• Insight into the school's governing documents, the Social Services Act, and other relevant laws

It is important that you have very good communication skills and the ability to inspire others. You can lead groups and classes in, for example, values-based work and conflict management.

In your work, you are structured and clear, and have the ability to take initiative and make decisions within the framework of your assignment. You need to have a good ability to build relationships with both children and adults.
