Then you could become an important part of our daily life as a school counselor at Kärraskolan for grades Pre-K to 3 and adapted primary school, as well as at the Swedish Ballet School for grades 4–9.

Kärraskolan is a Pre-K to 9 school located in central Kärra. It is surrounded by green areas and has been largely newly built in recent years. We have approximately 820 students, including 35 in the adapted primary school. To create a good learning environment, we focus on knowledge, safety, and joyful learning. All students should have the opportunity to develop according to their abilities and prerequisites.

The Swedish Ballet School is a unique primary school with a government mandate to provide preparatory dance education in grades 4–9. The education has national intake and is run by the Primary School Administration. The school is a separate unit with approximately 110 students who come from the entire Västra Götaland region to attend all standard theoretical subjects of the primary school and train dance at an elite level. The Swedish Ballet School is located at Selma Lagerlöfs torg in Backa.

Job Responsibilities

As a counselor, you are part of the school's and the school district's student health team and contribute psychosocial competence at the organizational, group, and individual levels. In student health work, you collaborate with teachers, school nurses, special education teachers, psychologists, school doctors, and deputy principals.

The team's mission is to work health-promoting and preventive together with the deputy principal and work groups to strengthen children and young people's opportunities to achieve goals.

You also work with investigations, follow-ups, and documentation in cases of harassment and bullying. If necessary, you supervise educators and work groups in social issues. In working with individual students, you conduct social investigations that form the basis for the principal's and student health's decisions. The work also involves close collaboration with Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP), habilitation services, and social services, etc.

Your base is at Kärraskolan, where you also have a fellow counselor. At the Swedish Ballet School, you are alone in your position, but you participate in professional meetings once a month together with fellow counselors and professional developers in the city, and participate in external supervision. Counselors in the administration operate from a common job description. As a new counselor with us, you will receive a good introduction and a mentor.

Qualifications

Formal Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a degree in social work or equivalent higher education that is assessed as relevant by the employer. It is meritorious to have previous experience working as a school counselor in primary school and adapted primary school, as well as knowledge and experience regarding intellectual disability and Neurodevelopmental Disorders (NPF).

It is also meritorious if you have:

• Experience working within social services
• Experience in promoting and preventive measures
• A good sense of quality in documentation and planning. We use the PMO journal system to systematically document ongoing student health work.
• Knowledge of legislation regulating school operations, confidentiality, and municipal administration.

Personal Qualifications

You have a very good ability to build and maintain good relationships with students, guardians, school staff, and actors outside the school who are significant for our students. We value your ability to work in a structured, solution-focused, and systematic manner, as well as your calmness, empathetic ability, and stability in meetings with students and guardians.
