Electrification and digitalization are among the most significant areas for the transition to sustainable societies in the future. The Department of Electrical Engineering conducts successful research and education in these fields – including renewable energy sources, electric vehicles and industrial robotics, industrial IoT, 6G communication, and wireless sensor networks. We also conduct research and education within Life Science, health technology, smart electronic sensors, and medical systems. The Department of Electrical Engineering is an international environment with approximately 170 employees who contribute to important technical energy and health solutions at the Ångström Laboratory.

The position will be located at the Division of Electricity, within the Department of Electrical Engineering. You will be part of research and education within power engineering and renewable power generation, with a specific focus on marine power systems. Description of the subject area of the employment:

Our society faces major challenges if we are to meet the global sustainability goals. Electrification is crucial. Renewable power generation plays a vital role in enabling the electrification of larger parts of society, including transport and industry. Within the activities of the Division of Electricity, there is a strong focus on experimental work, and within the area of renewable power generation, there are several experimental facilities used both in research and teaching. Education in electrical engineering and renewable power generation is increasing every year, and there is a significant need for power engineering competence in the surrounding society. This creates a high demand for teachers who can teach at all academic levels within the subject area, particularly at the undergraduate level. Applicants for the position are expected to have substantial experience and documented success in leading and taking responsibility for teaching and course development, especially with laboratory components.

Responsibilities

Teaching and administration. Teaching responsibilities include program coordination, course coordination, and course administration. The main task in this position will be to be responsible for, carry out, examine, and drive the development of lab-intensive courses and course modules within undergraduate education. You will follow developments within your own subject area and societal development in general that are relevant to work at the university. The position may include responsibility for contact with and booking of external study visits and guest lectures from industry partners, as well as representation in the form of showing and presenting our activities within the subject area. The position may also involve responsibility for lab assistants and teaching assistants involved in teaching. An important part of the position will be to be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and development of the power engineering labs at the division, regarding both teaching and research. This also includes participating in and contributing to the research conducted within the subject area.
