In Söderköping Municipality, we want to create joy in life. Every day. This is our vision and something we strive for. Here you are offered opportunities and challenges in an attractive, smaller municipality, strategically located with proximity to the university cities of Norrköping and Linköping. Participation and closeness to decision-making provide great opportunities for professional and personal development. Together, approximately 1,100 employees create an attractive workplace where we contribute to a continuously growing Söderköping. Our core values: holistic view, innovative thinking, commitment, and clarity show how we as an organization want to be and be perceived. Welcome to create the future with us!
We offer you
We are now looking for support educators (stödpedagoger) for our residents at Rådmansgatan 1 and Lötgatan.
The work groups at Rådmansgatan 1 and Lötgatan’s group housing have recently undergone changes and developed a secure way of working where the residents' needs are at the center. As in all professions where one works with people, no day is like the other, despite having good planning in place. We are trained in AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and work actively with this in everyday life.
We see our workplace as a learning organization where discussions and constructive feedback are a natural part of the work. Through supervision and education, we have built an open climate that we strive to maintain. During 2026–2027, the employer will offer several job-relevant courses. Workplace learning with APT (Workplace Learning) as a forum is central to us; lack of hierarchy and collegial support are prerequisites for us to thrive and succeed in our mission.
Job Description
As a support educator in group housing, you provide our residents with support in daily life from a pedagogical perspective.
At both facilities, the work is scheduled during days/evenings/weekends. At Lötgatan, sleeping on-call shifts are also included.
Care and support are provided based on the individual's needs, integrity, and self-determination. We have close cooperation with licensed staff, relatives, and guardians, which places high demands on your ability to meet different individuals based on their specific needs.
In your daily work, you are expected to receive delegation for medication and insulin.
Together with your colleagues, you work to involve the individual in their own daily life based on given conditions. You will serve as support for persons with diagnoses within NPF (Neurodevelopmental Disorders) and intellectual disability. Interventions vary from compensatory to supportive.
As a support educator within Support and Service, you are responsible for:
- Ensuring that guidelines for social documentation are followed and that the quality in implementation plans and social documentation is maintained in your own unit, and if necessary, in other units as well.
- Guiding employees in pedagogical work based on the user's needs and chosen method of work, as well as suggesting pedagogical solutions.
- Teaching and conveying knowledge in methods, approaches, and models, as well as acquiring knowledge when needed.
- Supporting and developing change processes.
- Being a helpful coordinator and assisting the manager in monitoring and correcting deviations.
You are expected to be able to make your own decisions, within the framework of your mandate, if the situation requires it. Continuously viewing your work from the best interest of the individual in dialogues about proposals and work methods.
Qualifications
We expect you to have relevant education, such as support educator, occupational therapist, social pedagogue, social worker, leisure-time pedagogue, or educator in special needs education.
We expect that you have experience in the profession and work within the LSS (Support and Service for Persons with Functional Impairments) sector. You are accustomed to working based on clarifying pedagogy, low-affective handling, AAC, and visual support. You take responsibility for your work and the operation's function as a whole; you are communicative and can work independently and in a group. Good computer skills and experience with documentation are seen as prerequisites for working with us.
It is meritorious if you have experience with ESL (Errorless Learning) or other work methods that facilitate the daily life of the individual.
We are looking for you who have a positive attitude towards your work and enjoy meeting people. You see areas for development and take the initiative to change them in consultation with colleagues and management. The work requires good initiative, a salutogenic view of humanity, and high work ethic.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
You will need to present an extract from the Police's criminal record register.
