to apply for the job

We draw strength from over 50,000 students and employees. Students who give hope for the future. Employees who, every day, contribute to Linköping University tackling the challenges of our time. Our core values are built on credibility, trust, and security. By being bold, thinking freely, and innovating, we create a better future together through both large and small actions. We welcome you to apply for a job with us!

Your responsibilities

Electronics are indispensable today and almost always rely on semiconductors, primarily inorganic crystalline materials such as silicon. Despite significant advances, these cannot meet the requirements for new applications that demand large surface areas, flexibility, and ease of processing. Organic semiconductors (OSCs), based on carbon and hydrogen, offer sustainability, low weight, compatibility with biosystems, and simple manufacturing on various substrates, opening up possibilities for more functions and a sustainable future. Just like inorganic semiconductors, OSCs require doping. This project aims to solve the long-standing challenge of doped OSCs using a new concept involving modulators. The doping process in OSCs is a redox reaction, where the reaction kinetics are determined not only by the reactants but also modulated by reaction conditions or catalysts. You will investigate dopants and gain an understanding of doping mechanisms. Additionally, the applications of doping, particularly in solar cells, will be explored.

As a postdoctoral researcher, your primary role will be conducting research. Teaching may also be part of the duties, comprising up to one-fifth of the working time.

Your qualifications

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctoral researcher, you must have completed a PhD or hold a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a PhD. Your degree must be completed no later than the time the employment decision is made.

It is meritorious if your degree was completed no more than three years before the final application deadline for this position. If there are special reasons, a degree completed earlier may be considered equivalent, for example, in cases of various types of statutory leave.

You should:

  • Hold a PhD in physics, chemistry, materials science, or engineering.
  • Have prior experience with organic semiconductors and doping.
  • Be highly motivated and able to collaborate as part of a team.
  • Openly share information about your research with other group members and contribute to scientific discussions regarding your and other group members' work.
  • Conduct the research described in the project description and requested by the research leader.
  • Be capable of project management and performing some administrative tasks.
  • Be able to advise other group members on experimental techniques.
  • At the request of your research leader, take responsibility for specific equipment and laboratory infrastructure, including equipment maintenance, to ensure a smooth and well-functioning laboratory.
  • Assist in supervising junior group members.

Please include a statement of intent explaining why you are interested in this position and why you believe you are qualified for it (by discussing the points above).
