We belong to the Business Area (VO) Thorax and Vessels at Skåne University Hospital (Sus). The Vessels area includes three units; the inpatient ward Vessel Ward, Vessel Surgery, and the Vessel Clinic. We provide both vascular surgical and vascular medical care for patients with various types of vascular diseases. In addition, we are responsible for vascular care in the southwestern and middle healthcare districts of Skåne and for the highly specialized treatment of vascular diseases throughout the Southern Healthcare Region. Although we are specialized and at the forefront, we are a smaller unit, which contributes to short decision-making paths and mutual trust.

The most common surgical conditions are carotid stenosis, aortic aneurysm, and claudication/critical ischemia, which are treated either with endovascular techniques, open surgery, or conservative treatment. The medical diagnoses are mainly pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis, and malignant hypertension. The Nursing Manager is a mentor for new employees and is responsible for identifying and guiding in caring for patients with complex nursing needs. Additionally, nursing rounds are held together with the regular care team.

Within the business area, a Nursing Professor works to develop and support evidence-based practice and leads the work with implementing Region Skåne's Competence and Service Model, which provides a clear structure for your learning and career opportunities within our operations.

DUTIES

As a nurse with us, you work in close collaboration with patients in a team of nursing assistants, doctors, medical secretaries, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists. You are responsible for the nursing care of patients with varying lengths of stay within both medical and surgical care. In your role, you work with both acute and planned care and perform standard nursing tasks. We strive to ensure that patients receive good and safe nursing care and, in the long term, excellent nursing care. We are a ward that works with development and improvement work. We believe that responsiveness, trust, and individual development within the work group, together with high competence and safe care, are prerequisites for a pleasant and secure work environment! Therefore, we focus on trust-based leadership, both during induction and further education. As a new employee, you will receive an individually adapted induction program that includes shadowing, theory, and observation within the vascular area.

Through continuous internal training, such as wound care and mobility knowledge, as well as external university courses, we build a knowledge-stable unit. At Malmö University, the course Nursing in Vascular Diseases and Vascular Surgical/Endovascular Treatment is 7.5 credits, and the goal is for you to take it within a couple of years at the Vessel Ward.

QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome you who are a licensed nurse with the eligibility to work within Swedish healthcare. Proficiency in Swedish at least equivalent to level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale is a requirement.
