Are you a Swahili-speaking educator looking for an exciting and important assignment where you get the chance to make a real difference for other people?
We are now looking for a Swahili-speaking Community Guide (Samhällsvägledare) for the Community Orientation Measures unit. The position is a fixed-term employment of approximately 20–40 %.
The Community Orientation Measures unit is part of the Social Services Administration Centre and consists of approximately 25 permanent employees, including community guides, development leaders, coordinators, and unit managers. In addition, there are also about ten fixed-term community guides.
Our unit works with measures aimed at newly arrived residents, new Gothenburgers, and new inhabitants in the Gothenburg Region municipalities, with the goal of providing a good start in Swedish society. The core task of the activity is courses in community orientation in native languages, but we also offer complementary measures such as parent courses for the foreign-born and measures regarding digital competence.
As a community guide, your tasks will consist of teaching community orientation and carrying out other educational measures in Swahili. Planning, conducting, and following up on lessons is included in the teaching of community orientation and other educational measures. Class teaching may be scheduled in the evenings.
You will work independently and in close collaboration with other colleagues in the unit. Your nearest manager is one of the unit managers of the activity.
Qualifications
You who apply for the position must be fluent in Swahili in both speech and writing, and have good knowledge of society and daily life in the countries where the language is spoken. Furthermore, we consider it a requirement that you have good knowledge of Swedish society and that you master Swedish in both speech and writing.
We consider it a requirement that you have several years of post-secondary education in pedagogy, or alternatively another university education that the employer considers equivalent. It is meritorious if you are a certified primary or secondary school teacher.
In addition, we consider it a requirement that you have previous experience of teaching, preferably of teaching adults.
You are an educator who adapts your working methods to the different prerequisites of the participants and uses various pedagogical and didactic methods. You create conditions for learning and explain problems and information from different perspectives. In the classroom, you are comfortable handling subjects such as societal issues, the function of authorities, sexual health, and value-based issues.
You encourage dialogue, participation, and engagement with a genuine interest in adult learning. You are responsive to the participants' needs and interested in group processes, showing respect, consideration, and care by listening to understand the participants' perspectives. You are service-oriented and work to strengthen the participants' self-efficacy, enjoy individual meetings, and have good empathetic ability.
You can collaborate well with others, have good self-awareness and personal maturity, and can work independently and take initiative. You have a good understanding of the assignment and maintain a professional attitude towards participants and visitors.
