Description
Welcome to Lövgärdesskolan!
We are looking for a school counselor interested in a short-term employment during the autumn term with our students in grades 4-6.
We are located in the center of Lövgärde, close to the nature area Vättlefjäll, which invites to outdoor activities and offers opportunities to use nature in teaching. Together with Tretjärnsskolan F–3, the adapted primary school, and Rävebergsskolan F-3, we form School Area 15 in the Northeast. The schools are led by a principal and 4 deputy principals.
Approximately 350 students from grade 4 to grade 9 attend the school. There is also a special education group at the school.
Responsibilities
As a school counselor, you are part of the school's student health team and contribute psychosocial competence at the organizational, group, and individual levels. Within the student health team, you collaborate with the school nurse, special educator, psychologist, speech therapist, school doctor, deputy principal, and principal. The team's mission is to work health-promoting and preventive together with work teams to strengthen students' opportunities to achieve goals.
Your responsibilities include, for example, participating in the school's continuous values and safety work, support conversations, collaborating with and supporting guardians, consultation with staff, and interventions in groups/classes. You will also conduct school social investigations and assessments prior to admission to the adapted primary school as well as investigations of student absenteeism. Furthermore, you collaborate with external actors such as social services, habilitation, UPH (Psychiatric Clinic for Children and Adolescents), and BUP (Child and Adolescent Psychiatry).
Within the primary school administration, you participate in professional meetings once a month together with fellow counselors and professional developers, and participate in external supervision. As a new counselor, you will also receive an introduction and a mentor.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a social work degree or equivalent higher education. You have good knowledge of the Social Services Act and the Education Act and have good ability to express yourself in speech and writing.
It is meritorious for the position if you have:
- experience working as a counselor and experience working with children and young people.
- experience working within social services.
- experience in promoting and preventive measures.
- training in conversation methods / supervision.
Personal Qualities
As a person, you are stable, empathetic, and secure in your professional role. You have a strong commitment to the psychosocial situation of children and young people and have the ability to meet people in different life situations. You enable children to tell their stories and contribute to highlighting students' participation and perspectives.
You easily create relationships and are professional and respectful in your approach to students, guardians, and colleagues. You need to have an interest in working in a pedagogical environment and in teams with different professions.
In your work, you are structured and clear and have the ability to take initiative and make decisions within the framework of your assignment. You also prioritize your interventions together with the principal and other student health staff. You keep your calm in difficult situations and can make well-founded decisions under time pressure.
You thrive with us if you appreciate a varied workday where good relationships are of great importance for successful work. You enjoy being among students and have a flexibility that allows you to handle things that arise. You see the counselor's role as a valuable part of the work regarding students' goal achievement and school quality.
The position is a fixed-term employment starting August 3 to December 18.
