Personal assistance is a service under the LSS (Act on Support and Service for Certain Functionally Disabled Persons). As a personal assistant, you provide individual support and care to people who have been granted personal assistance because they need help with one or more basic needs. Every client is unique, and your tasks will vary depending on the client's needs. You value the client's self-determination and integrity, and contribute to making daily life run smoothly.

About the role

The role of personal assistant places high demands on the ability to build good relationships. Therefore, we are looking for someone who is sensitive, engaged, and responsible. It is also important that you can take initiative and see what needs to be done.

The client is a teenage boy living in Hisings Backa. He has extensive care needs and is looking for someone who is secure, experienced, has a big heart, and possesses the necessary medical and communicative competence.

Client's Care Needs & Competency Requirements

  • Extensive care needs: The client requires structured support in daily life, which includes specific medical self-care and practical tasks:

    • Tube feeding: Experience or knowledge of tube feeding is required.

    • Epilepsy: Knowledge of and confidence in handling epilepsy.

    • Mobility: Experience with mobility work and the use of a ceiling lift.

  • Experience requirements: You should have several years of experience in healthcare and social care. Experience with active night shifts is a requirement/strongly meritorious for this position.

  • Language requirements: To ensure safe communication and documentation, you should have a good level of Swedish.

  • Meritorious education: Having worked as a nursing assistant (undersköterska) is highly advantageous.

Communication & Tools

The client communicates non-verbally. To understand his needs and build a good relationship, he uses:

  • Body language and eye contact.

  • Sounds.

  • Communication aids: The client uses specific tools, and it is a requirement that you have experience with communication aids such as TAKK (Signs as Alternative and Complementary Communication).

Interests and personality

The client welcomes interaction and enjoys:

  • Activities: Going for walks, playing, and being playful.

  • Relaxation: Watching movies and experiencing closeness/security.

Work environment

  • Pets in the home: There are cats in the workplace. Therefore, you should not be allergic to fur-bearing animals.

Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.

Working hours, degree of employment, and salary:

The current form of employment is "For as long as the assistance assignment lasts," and the position is approximately 75%. The role involves night work (active) from 19:30-08:00 on weekdays only. 2-3 nights per week.

Fixed hourly wage by agreement, and other benefits are paid according to the collective agreement.

Start date by agreement.

Being employed at Humana

A prerequisite for starting an employment with us at Humana is that you, as an applicant, can present a valid ID document and any documents proving the right to work in Sweden. To work as a personal assistant, you must be at least 18 years old.

According to legislation, we as employers must request a certificate of good conduct from all employees who are to work as personal assistants for a child under 18 years of age. Therefore, you need to present an extract from the police criminal record and suspicion register prior to any potential employment. Further information will be provided if you proceed in the recruitment process.
