Vänersborg Municipality has 40,000 inhabitants, and the central town is beautifully situated at the southern tip of Lake Vänern, offering both small-town charm and a rich selection of sights and activities. There are four public libraries in Vänersborg Municipality: the main library in the center (Vänersborg Library) and branch libraries in Vargön, Frändefors, and Brålanda.

We are now looking for an engaged and driven Culture Coordinator with a focus on program responsibility and communication who wants to work with the activities at the libraries. This may involve, for example, booking and participating in author visits and lectures, as well as planning book recommendations, workshops, and other activities for various target groups in the public. Making the libraries visible and handling marketing are additional tasks for which the person in question will have overall responsibility.

Job Responsibilities

The person we are looking for will be primarily responsible for the overall program operations and marketing for the libraries in Vänersborg, with a focus on Vänersborg Library in the center. This includes managing both internal and external communication, such as social media, content for printed materials, and contributing information to municipal channels. The person is also expected to participate in planning, booking, facilitating discussions, or otherwise participating in various activities. These activities will also involve cooperation with associations and other municipal or external operations.

The libraries in Vänersborg are part of the Culture and Leisure Administration, which has recently taken on the responsibility of running the municipality's Culture House. Therefore, some of the library's programs may also be held at the Culture House to accommodate a larger audience.

Some service at the information desk at Vänersborg Library is expected.

Evening shifts occur approximately once a week, but may occur more frequently during program activities. Weekend shifts are also included approximately every fourth week.

Qualifications

You should have

  • At least a bachelor's degree from a university/college or education within public activities in the cultural field. You may also have an education that the employer considers equivalent.
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing.

It is meritorious if you have

  • Experience in marketing and communication.
  • Experience in presenting, facilitating discussions, and managing activities in public settings.

You enjoy speaking in front of groups and have an easy time building relationships with representatives from various operations and organizations. It is important that you have a good sense of communication, service, and flexibility, where the operation is always the focus. You have the ability to work both independently and in groups.

You do not need to have worked at a library before, but it is an advantage if you have knowledge of library operations.

Terms

The employment is a parental leave substitute with 85% full-time equivalent from September 21, 2026 (or as agreed) until July 1, 2027.

We may have ongoing interviews during the application period, which means that we may begin the selection process before the final application date has passed.
