You want to make a difference and be part of shaping the future. With us, you will receive trust, development opportunities, and knowledgeable colleagues. We work together and are convinced that everyone wants and can learn.

About the Role

Fristadskolan is a secondary school (grades 7–9) located in central Fristad, 13 kilometers north of Borås. The school has just over 400 students. Our students come from both the central area of Fristad and smaller surrounding localities. The staff is organized into four work teams that collaborate to ensure every student has the best possible opportunity to succeed. The school is constantly developing and is characterized by a pleasant climate where teachers cooperate and exchange experiences within and between subjects. Safety and well-being are a given for both students and staff.

Responsibilities

As a Study Coach, you will support and relieve teachers in their work to increase students' study motivation. You will work with students who need help finding motivation for attendance and schoolwork, establishing structure in their daily lives, or functioning in social interactions. In your role, you will help students start their school day on a good note, discuss their school situation, and address other factors that may affect their well-being. You will also assist with certain school tasks planned by the teacher.

The role also includes taking responsibility for the Cafeteria activities together with another Study Coach. School Leisure (Skolfritid) no longer manages this activity, offering you the opportunity to help build a new operation with good contact points for students.

The assignment involves working together with the school management, student health team, work teams, the school's other Study Coach, students, and guardians. Collaboration with other actors and authorities may also be relevant. Examples of tasks for a Study Coach include:

  • Motivational and guiding conversations with students
  • Participation in teaching and schedule-breaking activities
  • Coordination of interventions for students at an individual and/or group level
  • Other interventions that relieve the work teams
  • Dialogue with guardians
  • Carrying out investigations (absences, class changes)

In the role of Study Coach, you will receive continuous supervision from the school psychologist together with the rest of the team.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a university degree in the field of pedagogy, psychology, social pedagogy, or social work, or another university education that the employer deems relevant. Teacher training and/or experience working with young people are meritorious.

To function well as a Study Coach, you need to be resilient, have good communication skills, and possess the ability to see the big picture regarding the student's situation.
