Job Description
The duties include teaching and administration. The German language teaching covers grammar, translation, and linguistics at the undergraduate level in Uppsala. Teaching within the framework of the department's international education in Freiburg (Germany) as well as scheduled evening classes on campus or online (e.g., German for Business or Introduction to German) may be included. Teaching responsibilities include course coordination, course administration, supervision, and examination. The applicant is expected to perform pedagogical development work, participate in the department's internal work, and in faculty-wide activities. The duties also include actively following and developing one's own subject area. Regular presence at the workplace is required for active participation in the department's work.
Qualifications
Eligible for employment as a University Lecturer is one who has completed a degree from basic higher education in a relevant subject area or has equivalent competence and has demonstrated pedagogical skill. A prerequisite for pedagogical skill to be considered present is the completion of a higher education pedagogical education relevant to the activity, comprising at least 10 weeks, or equivalent knowledge.
Ability to teach in Swedish and German is a requirement, as is previously documented experience of teaching German in Swedish at universities and higher education institutions.
The applicant must have the personal qualities required to perform the employment well. Such personal qualities here include good communication and cooperation skills, responsibility, and flexibility.
Assessment Criteria
In the selection among eligible applicants, particular weight will be given to both documented subject specialization and pedagogical skill, with particular emphasis placed on pedagogical skill. Subject specialization may refer to a completed degree at the doctoral level. A doctorate in a subject area assessed as relevant to the employment is meritorious.
In the selection among eligible applicants, particular weight will be given to broad competence within the subject area of German. Strongly meritorious is experience of teaching within German grammar and within contrastive aspects such as translation. Experience of own research, and research initiation is meritorious.
In the selection among eligible applicants, practical experience of teaching German at the undergraduate level will primarily be assessed. In addition, pedagogical skill will be taken into account. The assessment of pedagogical skill covers both planning, implementation, and evaluation of teaching as well as examination. Since the teaching is also conducted abroad, documented experience in applying different teaching formats is strongly meritorious. Experience of distance and/or IT-based teaching is meritorious.
The pedagogical skill must be well documented so that quality can also be assessed.
Administrative skill is also significant for the employment. Administrative skill is demonstrated, among other things, by the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work in an effective and purpose-adapted manner, as well as by the ability to set and maintain timeframes.
The employed person is expected to have their main working time located at the department.
Other skills:
Experience of collaboration with the surrounding society will be given significance. Proven good cooperation skills are meritorious.
All merits must be documented so that both quality and extent can be assessed.
The University will in this recruitment primarily consider the person who, after a qualitative overall assessment of competence and skill, is assessed to have the best conditions to carry out and develop current job duties and contribute to a positive development of the activity.

The employed person is expected to have their main working time located at the department in Uppsala.
