About the job

We are now expanding our MST teams at the Social Administration Nordost!

MST (Multisystemic Therapy) is an evidence-based treatment recommended by the National Board of Health and Welfare as an alternative to placement for children and adolescents with norm-violating behavior, such as substance abuse, crime, school problems, and aggression. The treatment takes place in the family's home and in the environment where the youth is located, targeting all people in the youth's life, such as friends, relatives, school staff, field secretaries, or police. As an MST therapist, you work closely with the family and their private and professional networks to break the destructive behavior.

As support for your work, you will undergo a five-day MST training to complement your existing experience in social work within social services and/or treatment work. Additionally, you will receive collegial support within a tightly knit team, weekly supervision by the team leader, and consultation with an MST expert, providing you with regular learning and quality assurance in the work being performed. You will also be offered in-depth knowledge through joint meetings with teams from different parts of Sweden to gain specialized expertise in specific areas.

In your role as an MST therapist, you will have good opportunities to structure your work according to your preferences, provided you can offer families meetings approximately two evenings a week. The role involves a significant responsibility through on-call duty every fourth week to ensure families can receive round-the-clock support and guidance when needed. A salary supplement is added for this duty.

The unit is also part of a research study related to working time innovation and a 4-day work week, meaning you are offered a gift day every week. MST in Nordost has consisted of two teams since 2024 to serve all four social administrations in Gothenburg, and we are now in a period where we will expand both teams to reach more families.

Qualifications

For this position, we are looking for you who have a degree in social work or another education that the employer deems equivalent. We need you in our team who is interested in working systematically and wants to develop your skills in family work. You are a flexible and responsible person with good collaboration skills who can work in a structured and independent manner, focusing on families and their networks.

The MST team receives consultation and training from the Swedish MST organization. You will initially be offered a 5-day basic MST training, and therefore, you do not need to be trained in MST to apply.

Consultation and training are partly conducted in English, so good knowledge of the English language, both spoken and written, is necessary. Experience in family work, family therapy, or cognitive therapy is meritorious.

A B-driver's license, as well as driving experience, is a requirement.

Selection and interviews will take place on an ongoing basis.

We warmly welcome your application!
