Counselor for Youth Clinic in Järfälla
Do you want to be part of preventive social work with young people? The Youth Clinic in Järfälla is looking for a counselor for a fixed-term position who wants to combine individual contacts with active, outward-facing work together with colleagues and other stakeholders!
Our Mission and Perspective
The Youth Clinic's mission is to promote the physical, mental, and sexual health of young people aged 12–23, based on a salutogenic holistic perspective. This work is carried out at several different levels through advisory and supportive interventions at the clinic. We also place great emphasis on outward-facing work. We believe that the clinic needs to be visible in the contexts where young people are, both to spread knowledge about our clinic and to broaden the image of social services' work and role in young people's lives.
We work with questions such as:
- How do we reach more boys?
- How do we reach young people from segregated residential areas?
- How can we develop our ability to offer smooth pathways to other care and social interventions?
We aim to increase the number of young people seeking us out through conscious outward-facing initiatives. Does this sound interesting? Read on!
Work Environment and Organization
The Youth Clinic in Järfälla is part of the preventive work of the social services and is part of the Youth Support Unit, which is a service provider organization within the Social Administration. We are located in Jakobsberg Center, where you will enjoy a pleasant working environment in nice premises and a very varied job. You will have access to close leadership in the form of a team leader and unit manager who are highly engaged in the development of the operations. The position includes evening shifts one evening per week. We also have external supervision.
At our youth clinic, you will be part of a team consisting of three midwives, three counselors, and two part-time doctors. Based on our different professions, we collaborate closely with a holistic view of young people, and together we develop the youth clinic for the future. We use the method Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT) both as a conversation tool and as a foundation for our operational development. With the help of this method, we can see which target groups we meet and how they experience the help they receive.
Responsibilities
As a counselor, you will conduct advice and support conversations with young people and young adults regarding issues such as relationships, identity, stress, depression, anxiety, self-destructive behaviors, sexuality, pregnancy, and abortion. You will meet with young people both individually and in groups.
The outward-facing work at the clinic includes meeting classes and other groups to inform them about our operations, as well as working at schools and other meeting places for young people.
You should enjoy working with development issues and have a passion for working with a holistic perspective. You are not just a counselor at the Youth Clinic, but a representative of the social services, playing an important role in helping young people access their rights, for example by guiding them to the right support. You will collaborate closely with your fellow counselors and the region's midwives, as well as with other actors such as other outpatient care within social services, schools, and leisure activities.
Qualifications and Merits
We are looking for you who are a social worker or have equivalent education. Further education in the form of GPU/Step 1 and sexology is desirable. Several years of experience working with young people/young adults is a requirement. It is meritorious if you have worked at a youth clinic, as a counselor in psychiatry, or in other supportive activities, and if you have HBTQI+ competence.
You easily create contact with young people and gain their trust. You have the ability to support and help young people grow in self-confidence.
It is important that you have good skills in working in teams with other professional categories and that you can also work independently and make your own assessments. To succeed and thrive in the role, you are creative and solution-focused. The work also requires that you have a positive outlook and respect for young people's living conditions. Furthermore, you enjoy carrying out development work within the operations together with others. Great importance will be attached to collaboration skills and personal suitability.
The position requires good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.
