The Department of Political Science is an international academic environment that welcomes students, researchers, and staff from around the world. Our research covers topics such as political institutions, elections, public opinion, and democracy, international and European politics, environmental policy, corruption, and political ideas. The Department of Political Science at Gothenburg University is ranked as the best in Sweden and one of the top 10-15 in Europe in its field, according to the global Shanghai Ranking of Academic Subjects for 2024. We host numerous research seminars and workshops annually within the department's various research areas. We offer education at all levels in both Swedish and English. In total, approximately 1,400 people study with us, and we have around 170 employees.

The department's operational support consists of employees within finance, HR, educational and research administration, communication, and student guidance. We are now looking for an Educational Administrator who wants to contribute to the development of our administrative support for the department's educational activities.
Responsibilities
As an Educational Administrator, you work with qualified administrative support for the department's undergraduate and advanced level courses. The work is carried out in close collaboration with program directors, teachers, students, and other colleagues within the operational support team.
You work with the entire educational administrative process, from admission to graduation. The tasks include, among other things, course and program administration, exam management, result reporting, diary registration, archiving, as well as handling various types of decision documents and certificates. You also provide information and support to students and teaching staff regarding regulations, routines, and administrative processes.
The role involves many contact points, and you provide support and service to students and employees in educational administrative matters. You work in several different digital operational systems and are expected to actively contribute to developing and ensuring the quality of administrative methods and routines. The department operates in an international environment with many English-speaking contacts and collaborations.
The role entails significant individual responsibility while working in close collaboration with colleagues within the operational support team. The work requires good ability to prioritize between different tasks and processes, especially during periods of high workload and fixed deadlines.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a university degree or other education and experience that the employer considers equivalent, as well as experience in qualified administrative work.
You have very good administrative skills and are accustomed to working independently, structured, and with high quality. The role requires that you can handle several parallel tasks and processes simultaneously and that you have good ability to prioritize and adapt the work based on the organization's needs. You also easily adapt to new work areas, regulations, and digital system support.
We are looking for you who enjoy taking responsibility, creating structure, and driving administrative processes forward. You work carefully and solution-oriented, contributing to professional and well-functioning collaboration within the operational support team.
The role involves close collaboration with students, teachers, and colleagues, which requires a good service orientation and good collaboration skills. You need to be confident in communicating professionally with different target groups and have very good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English.
We would appreciate if you have experience of:
- working in public operations or other regulated organizations
- qualified administrative work with many parallel processes
- coordinating or coordinating administrative roles
- working in digital operational systems and administrative tools
- service and administrative support in operations with many contact points
- international contacts and professional communication in English

Employment
The employment is a full-time fixed-term contract for one year, with the possibility of extension, located at the Department of Political Science. Start date in September 2026 or as agreed.
