Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. Now we are looking for you who want to think big, new, and different with us – for the people of Stockholm.
Welcome to us
Enskede-Årsta-Vantör is a large district area sometimes referred to as "Little Stockholm" due to its spread of areas with varying characteristics. This contributes to challenging and exciting work with great opportunities to influence the social services' work with children, young people, and parents.
Preventive and early support for families is a prioritized area. We are now looking for an engaged and relationship-building family counselor for our school social team within the first-line area. The area consists of five units and is part of the preventive and promoting department. The team is organized together with the family counselors in SSPF, the unit for coordinated support.
A greeting from your future colleagues:
"We in the school social theme are engaged family counselors who work independently but always have support from each other. We are now looking for a new colleague who wants to contribute their competence, curiosity, and desire to make a difference for students every day. We look forward to meeting you!"
What we offer
With us, you will get a developing and meaningful assignment where you work closely with colleagues both within social services and schools. You become part of an engaged team with high competence and a strong collaborative culture. Stockholm City is one of Sweden's largest employers and offers a good and secure workplace with favorable employment conditions. As an employee, you have access to health benefits and the opportunity to buy annual passes to the city's own swimming and gym facilities at favorable prices. If you want to read more about Stockholm City's benefits, you can do so here (#).
Your role
The target group is children with repeated or long-term absence from school. Interventions currently take place without a needs assessment but may change. Interventions are designed together with the child, guardians, and school. Private and professional networks are activated. The goal is to strengthen the child's school attendance and increase goal achievement.
As a family counselor, you are part of the school social team formed around each individual child. The work is based on a systemic theoretical foundation and covers the entire network around the child, where family, school, and other actors collaborate.
The role includes among other things:
- Conducting motivational and supportive work with children and their guardians
- Collaborating closely with schools and their student health teams
- Implementing interventions in the child's natural environment, such as at home and school
- Contributing to method development and collegial learning within the team
- Leading parenting support groups during daytime and evening hours
We prioritize and further develop coordinated early support. You will become part of an established and well-functioning collaboration with the district's primary schools, with the aim of strengthening school attendance and creating better conditions for children's learning and development. You will be an important addition that enables us to further strengthen the work on school attendance.
As part of the ongoing transition, focusing on more coordinated and knowledge-based early support, the following development areas are particularly prioritized:
- To make the child visible and strengthen the child's participation in the interventions provided
- To systematically follow up whether the interventions have had the intended effect on the child's life situation, with special focus on: school attendance, goal achievement, and secure relationships
- To ensure that support and interventions are directed where the needs are greatest.
Your competence and experience
We are looking for you who have:
- A degree in Social Work, or a university education assessed by the employer as equivalent
- Experience in motivational work and family-supporting interventions
- Good knowledge of prevention knowledge and systemic approach
- Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing
It is meritorious if you have competencies in parenting support programs.
We see that you are secure in your professional role, have a professional attitude, and the ability to create trusting relationships. You thrive working in an activity characterized by development, participation, and engagement. You are independent and have a good ability to drive and create structure in your work based on the overarching municipal assignment. You are flexible and adapt easily.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
Other information
Working hours are during daytime Monday - Friday, with some evening duties within the framework of flextime, in connection with parenting support groups or to meet parents' and children's needs to be seen outside office hours. We strive not to meet children during school hours.
The position is subject to the necessary decisions being made.
We recruit without a personal letter in this recruitment to strengthen the focus on the competencies and experiences required for this role. In assessing your application, we will only rely on your CV and a number of questions you will answer when applying for the position. We ask that you answer the questions concretely and concisely, and that there is a clear link between your answers and your CV.
Stockholm City works with competence-based recruitment aimed at considering each person's competence and thereby combating discrimination.
