Do you want to make a difference and contribute to meaningful learning for every student? Here, you will help create a meaningful and rewarding school experience for our students and contribute to strengthening individuals.
Your responsibilities
In the adapted school, you meet students with intellectual disabilities, where each individual has unique strengths, prerequisites, and support needs. As a teacher here, you work closely with the students in their development, learning, and daily life. You work with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of teaching based on the curriculum, where values-based work is also a natural part.
You view the student's entire school day as an important whole and collaborate closely with colleagues, teaching assistants, and guardians. The role also includes close collaboration between the school and the leisure center to create the best possible conditions for each student's development and goal achievement.
The teaching is based on the student group you meet and is characterized by clear structure and a flexible approach. Using alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) such as visual supports, sign language, eye-gaze devices, etc., and digital tools is a natural part of your teaching. At the same time, you create a predictable environment where students can feel safe, develop, and be challenged at their own pace.
Common tasks include:
- Plan, adapt, and structure teaching to create the best possible conditions for each student's learning
- Lead and distribute work in the classroom, as well as mentor and guide teaching assistants in their daily work
- Ensure that teaching maintains a clear direction towards set goals and that everyone in the team works towards the same goals
- Be responsible for teaching in subject areas/subjects and design content that stimulates student development
- Continuously adapt the teaching situation, for example by organizing groups or activities to meet students' different needs
- Clarify instructions and expectations for students and support them in their knowledge development and independence
Teaching is conducted both within subject areas and subjects with a focus on the student's development, participation, and learning.
Your workplace
Our adapted primary school for grades 7-9 is located at three units: Nya Rydsskolan, Ekholmsskolan, and Anders Ljungstedts Gymnasium. In total, across the three units, we have approximately 80 employees and 100 students. Our students study both subjects and subject areas.
We meet each student based on their unique prerequisites through individualized teaching and place great emphasis on student influence. Our goal is for students to feel included and have the opportunity to influence their learning and learning environment, which strengthens them as individuals. To succeed in this, you work in a tightly knit teaching team and collaborate closely with your colleagues. We prioritize common development through regular meeting times, both within the immediate team and through networks where teachers and assistants meet to exchange experiences and knowledge.
The premises are very well adapted and shared with the primary school, giving us access to fully equipped facilities. The school also has excellent bus connections.
You who apply
We primarily seek you who have a preschool teacher license or a teacher license with eligibility to teach in grades F-9. Secondly, we seek you with a completed teacher education for F-9 or a degree certificate from a preschool teacher education. Alternatively, you are at the end of your education as a teacher or preschool teacher. It is meritorious if you have special needs education or special teacher education with specialization in intellectual disabilities. It is also meritorious if you have eligibility in one or more of the following subjects: Swedish, Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Technology, but based on the operations needs, we are flexible with subject combinations. You have previous experience in pedagogical work with students in need of special support, preferably within adapted school.
In your role as a teacher, you have good knowledge of the school's mission and are well acquainted with the curriculum (Lgra22) and other regulatory documents. It is a requirement that you have good communicative skills in speech and writing in the Swedish language. This is because, according to the curriculum for adapted school, you must organize and carry out the work so that the student receives support in their language and communication development.
As a teacher, you are a good role model and have clear pedagogical leadership in the classroom. You lead, engage, and motivate others in the team so that together you reach the goals for the students' development. You actively build relationships with students, colleagues, and others you meet by seeing each individual's needs and abilities. Furthermore, you have the ability to adapt your teaching to the students and you act calmly and securely in challenging situations. You have the ability to focus on the right things even if the prerequisites change. You collaborate well with colleagues, guardians, and other contacts in society that occur in your professional role.
For the position to be permanent, a teacher license must be presented; until then, a fixed-term employment applies.
If you have an issued teacher license and eligibility list, please attach these as files together with your application documents when you apply for the position. If you are a trained teacher but have not yet applied for a teacher license, please attach a certificate of education. If you are studying to be a teacher, attach a certificate of study for completed courses at a university or college.
