The Position and Responsibilities

Investigation Children and Young People 4 is seeking two SIG Coordinators for a fixed-term employment until 2026-12-31. This is a role where you coordinate and drive the work regarding the Social Intervention Group (SIG). This is a collaboration model aimed at children and young people aged 12–18 who are involved in, or at risk of becoming involved in, criminality.

As a SIG Coordinator, you lead and coordinate the work regarding the child on behalf of the social secretary. This means you plan, invite to, and lead SIG meetings with the child/young person, school, police, and other actors based on need. You follow up on measures and ensure that all parties work towards the same goal. In a close contact person role, you meet the child in their social environment, have regular conversations with the child, and follow up on interventions and development. The purpose is to create motivation and conditions for a lasting lifestyle change. The work includes both practical coordination and follow-up of interventions, as well as strategic work to develop routines and methods within SIG.

Your main responsibilities:

  • gather information on new assignments from social secretaries and police
  • talk with the child about their lifestyle
  • identify risk factors and strengthen protective factors
  • coordinate individually tailored interventions
  • support the child in finding meaningful leisure activities and contribute to a functioning school situation
  • manage and further develop the Social Services Department's work within the Social Intervention Group (SIG), focusing on adapting the approach to the transition to the new Social Services Act.

Children and young people who are subjects of the intervention (SIG) are often involved in criminal networks that have a significant impact on the local community. Our goal is to contribute to getting them to leave these environments, and you stay updated on the subject due to your interest.

The position is based in Tumba, but you need to be flexible regarding where the workday begins. The work may involve travel throughout Sweden, as you need to be able to meet the young person where they are, which also implies some shifted working hours.

We offer you

Investigation Children and Young People 4 is one of four units responsible for investigating the need for protection and support for children and young people aged 0–18. The group consists of SIG coordinators, social secretaries, a child protection team with specific competence in Signs of Safety, as well as administrative support. We work closely together with knowledge sharing, joint responsibility, and a focus on high legal security. Management is present and accessible through three operational managers and a unit manager, which creates security and predictability in daily work. Together, we create a work environment characterized by respect, collaboration, and job satisfaction.

As an employee with us, you will receive an introduction to create security in your role. You are offered external supervision in small groups every month and have access to continuous competence development within the framework of your assignment. Through our own outpatient care, you also receive regular training in network work, an area where Botkyrka is at the forefront.

You who apply to us

You have work experience in social work with children and young people who are in, or at risk of falling into, criminality. You are educated as a social worker, behavioral scientist, or social pedagogue, or have other education that the employer deems relevant.

Other requirements:

  • Category B driver's license.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Experience leading network meetings such as SIG or SIP.
  • Experience of close collaboration with functions within social services, police authority, prison and probation service, and schools.
  • Knowledge of legislation regarding public access and secrecy, the penal code, and the Social Services Act.
  • Completed training in criminality as a lifestyle.
  • Completed training and experience in MI, RBM, BBIC, and SOFS.
  • Experience of working in public operations.

To succeed in the role of SIG Coordinator, you need the ability to create structure and drive the work forward even in complex situations. You plan and coordinate interventions in a clear and systematic way and ensure that all actors work towards common goals. The role places high demands on collaboration skills, where you bring together family, school, police, and region in a joint effort for the child's best interest through trust and clear communication. It is an advantage if you speak several languages fluently, as this contributes to an inclusive and accessible approach in Botkyrka. With a relationship-building and empathetic approach, you motivate change and strengthen the child's belief in their own abilities. In meetings with both the child and the network, you are solution-oriented and see opportunities where others see obstacles. Through your structure, engagement, and collaboration skills, you contribute to creating lasting changes for the child.

For positions in the Social Services Department in Botkyrka Municipality, you as a prospective employee will undergo a background check.
