Make a difference. Every day.
Do you want to work on a ward where you are heard, seen, and where your competence is valued? Is an empathetic approach and a focus on the patient self-evident to you? Then don't hesitate to apply to us at the Intensive Care and Postoperative Ward (IPV) today!
The Hospital in Ystad is an acute hospital with a broad range of specialized care. It is a smaller hospital with a family atmosphere and good opportunities for participation. We offer healthcare with quality and accessibility, holistic view, and care as key characteristics. IPV in Ystad currently has three intensive care beds, one intermediate bed, a pre-operative ward, and post-operative care beds that are staffed around the clock. The recovery ward also has ten monitoring beds Monday to Friday, where both children and adults are treated. Ystad is a general intensive care unit; on the ward, we treat patients with failure in one or more organ systems, for example. Common medical technical equipment includes ventilators, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), and more.
We value the work environment and have organized the unit so that you have significant influence and high participation. Here, we place great emphasis on teamwork; nursing assistants, doctors, and nurses work closely together to provide care. We also work closely with other professions such as pharmacists and physiotherapists.

RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for an Intensive Care Nurse for the intensive care unit in Ystad.
In the team, you have a leading and driving role and work with assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and analyzing the care of all intensive care patients, regardless of the stage in the care process, and handle complex care situations independently with access to an experienced colleague for support.
When you feel ready, you may gradually take on some of the following responsibilities: acute external assignments such as trauma alarms, Mobile Intensive Care Group, or alarm operations relevant to the unit.
With the help of your mentor, you will receive individualized guidance based on your needs, abilities, and situation. There are great opportunities for competence development; at our workplace, we work according to Region Skåne's Competence and Staff Model (KTM), which provides a clear structure for your learning and career opportunities within our operations.
Every week we have competence-enhancing lectures at the unit. We use a quota model for working hours, where you have the opportunity to influence your schedule and time for recovery. Ystad is advantageously located with commuting possibilities from Malmö and Lund; we have nurses on our ward who commute daily.
"Commuting to Ystad from Malmö works well with trains running every half hour, which matches working hours well. For me, the commute time is worth it to work at a well-functioning workplace with a good work climate. On ICU/POP/Recovery, there is a stable work group with a strong personnel culture where we help each other and learn from each other. The opportunity to work with intensive care with the support of colleagues, without having a specialist education beforehand, has been incredibly fun and educational. Having that experience before further education in intensive care, I believe, will contribute to a greater understanding of the education," says Johanna, who works as a nurse on the ward.
QUALIFICATIONS
We welcome you who are a licensed nurse with the right to practice in Swedish healthcare. Furthermore, you have specialist education in intensive care. You also have knowledge of Swedish corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale. It is meritorious if you have experience working with monitoring, infusion pumps, arterial lines, or have worked on wards such as AVA or HIA.
It is a given for us that employees get the opportunity to actively engage in the ward's development! It is important that you, just like us, are engaged in your profession and want to contribute and maintain our good care quality. As a person, you have a positive attitude and are flexible and outgoing. Since we work under the principle of freedom under responsibility, you need to have personal maturity and a good ability to collaborate with different colleagues. Furthermore, you have a professional attitude and treatment towards colleagues, staff, and relatives. This is a position for you who can quickly adapt to changed conditions when necessary and who as a person can handle stressful situations. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
We apply continuous selection. Warmly welcome your application already today, we look forward to getting to know you!
