Blackebergsskolan is a primary school (grades F-6) with just under 400 students, located in a beautiful natural area in Bromma. Proximity to water, nature, and public transport, along with very dedicated staff, means you will hopefully enjoy working with us. As a school counselor at Blackebergsskolan, you will be an important part of our student health team, the school's safety group, and our attendance team.

We work purposefully to continuously improve our operations with a focus on the school's educational mission. To ensure our students succeed in their schooling, we work actively on preventive measures concerning safety and study environment.

Your role

As a school counselor at Blackebergsskolan, we want you to contribute psychosocial and social competence to the student health work at various levels. The work at a broader level involves structured efforts to strengthen the school for our students' learning, health, and development.

  • Social investigation and mapping work
  • Counseling sessions with students individually and in groups
  • Documentation of work with individual students
  • Parent meetings
  • Mentoring and support for school staff
  • Overall responsibility for the school's "Plan against Harassment and Discrimination" as well as work with and follow-up of harassment cases
  • Values-based work concerning youth at risk, threats and violence, racism, honor-related violence, etc.
  • Be part of the school's crisis group. Work with crisis management and conflict resolution in various contexts
  • Be part of the school's student health team and, in collaboration with other team members, work preventively and remedially with various types of interventions
  • Be part of the school's safety group and thereby work to increase safety for our students at school
  • Be part of the school's attendance team to contribute to increasing attendance for students with problematic school absenteeism
  • Participate in networks that may be relevant in the role of school counselor
  • Collaborate with social services, child and adolescent psychiatry, habilitation services, leisure activities, and police

Your qualifications and experience

Requirements for education and experience:

  • Social work degree (Social worker)
  • Experience working as a school counselor with younger students (grades F-6). Experience working in a multicultural area is also valuable
  • Experience working in other relevant areas, such as social services
  • Very good knowledge in various areas:

Building good relationships with students, guardians, and staff.
Facilitating and leading difficult conversations with children and adults.
Independently analyzing, following up, and documenting various types of cases.
Working proactively to contribute to all students' success in their schooling.

School counseling work requires the ability to handle multiple perspectives when it comes to student-facing work, overarching work, and preventive work. This presupposes a broad range of working methods, deep knowledge of children and young people and their development. The role requires knowledge of behavioral and social sciences, school law, and social services law.
