As a School Counselor, you are employed within the Central Child and Student Health Services, but your primary workplace will be at one or more schools within Nacka Municipality.

Your Role

In the role of School Counselor, you work with promoting and preventive measures to create good conditions for students' learning, development, and health. The work is carried out at the individual, group, and school unit levels. You are part of the school's student health team, which also includes school leadership, school nurses, special education teachers, and school psychologists. You support school leadership and staff in prioritizing, planning, and implementing psychosocial interventions for students. You contribute your psychosocial and social competence as support in the pedagogical work and in the overall planning of the student health services.

You will become part of the Central Child and Student Health Services, which includes approximately 20 school counselors. Although you are located at different schools, you have close collaboration through regular meetings and a strong network. Furthermore, you collaborate with school staff, students, guardians, and external actors to promote students' well-being and development.

Your main responsibilities:

• Participation in the school's student health team
• Supportive, motivational, investigative, and advisory student counseling, both individually and in groups
• Advice and support to guardians regarding parenthood and referral to appropriate support agencies
• Mentoring and consultation to school leadership and staff on psychosocial issues
• Information, collaboration with, and coordination of contacts with various support agencies in society, such as social services, psychiatry, habilitation, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP), and police
• Participation in the school's overall promoting and preventive safety and equal treatment work
• Work with classes and groups based on safety, well-being, and health-promoting themes

Your Experience

For this position, you are required to have:

• A degree in Social Work (Social Work degree)
• Current experience working as a counselor and/or with youth with psychosocial issues
• Experience working with children/youth
• Good ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.

It is an advantage if you also have:

• Experience working as a school counselor
• Good knowledge of the school as an organization
• Knowledge and experience working with children/youth in need of special support
• Experience working within social services.

You have both the interest and ability to collaborate, communicate, and build good relationships with students, guardians, school staff, and external actors. You value teamwork and the knowledge of different professions, while understanding the importance of creating a safe environment where students and guardians feel comfortable opening up. As the sole counselor at the school, it is important that you are self-sufficient. You plan and structure your work based on the needs of the operations and students, always with a preventive and health-promoting focus. Furthermore, you show good judgment in handling sensitive issues. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
