Herrestaskolan opened its doors in January 2016 and today offers a modern and inspiring learning environment for approximately 400 students in grades F–6. Since the autumn term of 2023, an adapted primary school has also been part of the operations. The school is located in the heart of Barkarbystaden – beautifully surrounded by green areas and with easy access to good transport links.

The building is environmentally certified and constructed in mass timber – a sustainable and well-planned place where students' well-being, learning, and future are in focus. We are proud of our school environment, which includes a full-size sports hall, its own cooking kitchen, and a well-equipped schoolyard.

Our school is characterized by high teacher competence and a complete student health team, which together contribute to a safe and developmental school environment. Here, a dedicated staff group works with a common focus on every student growing and developing – both academically and socially. We are a medium-sized unit and therefore have a recurring need for substitutes who can step in at short notice to replace regular staff during absences.

Job Responsibilities

Teacher Substitute

• Replace regular teachers at short notice during absences.
• Conduct teaching based on regular teachers' plans and instructions, and adapt and improvise teaching as needed based on current conditions.
• Lead, structure, and create a safe and study-friendly learning environment in the classroom.
• Document and briefly report to regular teachers about the day's teaching, student participation, and any incidents.
• Collaborate with teachers, student health services, and other educators to ensure continuity and quality in operations.

Recreational Leader (Fritidspedagog)

• Replace regular recreational leaders at short notice during absences.
• Collaborate with teaching teachers during the school day to support students' learning, development, and safety.
• Plan, lead, and organize pedagogical activities in the after-school center together with regular staff.
• Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment for students.
• Collaborate with colleagues and other staff to develop and maintain the quality of operations.

Adapted Primary School – Childcare Worker/Student Assistant

• Replace regular childcare workers or student assistants at short notice during absences.
• Support students' learning, development, and independence in close collaboration with teaching teachers and other staff.
• Adapt support measures based on students' individual needs and conditions.
• Participate in planning, implementation, and organization of activities during school and after-school operations.
• Contribute to a safe, accessible, and inclusive learning environment.
• Collaborate with colleagues, guardians, and other professions to promote students' development and well-being.

Qualifications

We are seeking hourly substitutes for all school operations and grades. We are looking for teacher substitutes, recreational leader substitutes, and substitutes for the adapted primary school as childcare workers/student assistants.

As an applicant, you are expected to have a genuine interest in working with children and students, as well as the ability to create safe, positive, and developmental learning environments. You need to be flexible, responsible, and have good collaboration skills, as the work often involves replacing regular staff at short notice.

A requirement is that you master Swedish well in both speech and writing. Experience of working in schools, after-school centers, or adapted primary schools is meritorious. Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.
