Your new role

We are currently looking for a UI Designer for a consulting assignment with our client in Solna. This role is for you who have extensive experience with design systems and want to work closely with design, development, and product teams in an environment where scale, structure, and long-term maintenance are important.

You will become part of a team working on the client's design system. Currently, there are two parallel design systems: one for customer-facing digital experiences and one for internal, store-facing experiences. In this assignment, you will primarily work with the store-facing platform while also playing a key role in merging these systems into a common standard.

This role suits you if you thrive in a hands-on environment where you build, maintain, and develop components, tokens, documentation, and workflows that can be used by many teams. You will also be part of a larger shift where design and development work more closely with code, with AI as a natural support in daily work.

Your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Building and maintaining components, design tokens, typography, spacing, patterns, and documentation within the design system.
• Contributing to the merger of two design systems into a common standard.
• Working on token structure, naming conventions, mapping between systems, and prioritizing what should be consolidated.
• Ensuring the design system functions well for a store-facing platform with complex user flows.
• Collaborating closely with UI Developers and contributing to a more code-near workflow between design and development.
• Using AI tools in daily work and contributing to new workflows that improve quality and speed.
• Contributing to how the design system is versioned, documented, maintained, and communicated to consuming teams.
• Ensuring that components and patterns maintain high quality and can scale over time.

To be successful in this role, you need:

• Several years of experience building and maintaining design systems, preferably systems used by multiple product teams.
• Very good proficiency in advanced component building in Figma, such as variables, modes, properties, slots, and auto-layout.
• Deep understanding of design tokens, such as primitives, semantics, theming, and mode management.
• Technical understanding and the ability to have a qualified dialogue with UI Developers about how design moves from idea to implementation.
• Active use of AI tools in your daily practice, such as Claude, Cursor, v0, Lovable, Figma Make, or similar.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, thriving in close collaboration with other UI Designers, UI Developers, and Product Designers.
• Fluent Swedish skills, both spoken and written.
• Residence in the Stockholm area and ability to work on-site in Solna 2–3 days a week.
• Ability to show a portfolio with concrete examples of design systems and components used in production.
