Högskolan Väst is seeking a University Lecturer in Educational Science with a focus on Leisure Center Pedagogy, fixed-term appointment

We are looking for an engaged lecturer who wants to contribute to the development of the primary teacher education program and the leisure centers of the future. In your role as a lecturer, you will primarily teach on the Primary Teacher Program with a focus on work in leisure centers. Teaching assignments may also occur on other teacher programs as well as in external educational initiatives.

We are looking for you with good pedagogical skills who has experience with digitized teaching practices and an interest in working closely with students in their professional development.

Job Description:

The position is located within teacher education and includes teaching as well as pedagogical and academic development work within the primary teacher program with a focus on leisure centers. The position also involves contributing to the development and quality of the education in accordance with the university college's mission.

• Teaching in courses on the Primary Teacher Program with a focus on work in leisure centers, including practice-based education (VFU). The teaching will be conducted in Swedish.
• VFU visits.
• Supervision and course development, as well as pedagogical, scientific, and subject-oriented planning and development work.
• Education, research, collaboration, and administrative work.
• Following developments within one's subject area and other societal developments that are significant for work at the university college.

Qualification Requirements for the Position of University Lecturer:

• Documented pedagogical competence. Applicants who lack pedagogical merits from an academic environment must have competence equivalent to the university college's qualification requirements, although this may have been acquired in a manner other than within an academic environment.
• Completed higher education pedagogical education of at least ten weeks or equivalent competence. If higher education pedagogical education is lacking, employment may still take place provided that the employee completes the education during the first two years of employment.
• Completed advanced degree or equivalent. In some cases, professional competence may be qualifying instead of an advanced degree. For this to be relevant, it must concern professional competence assessed to correspond to an advanced degree and be relevant to the tasks included in the position.

Additionally required for this position:

• Primary teacher degree with a focus on leisure centers or equivalent.
• Ability to teach in Swedish.

Qualifications that are meritorious for the position include:

• Experience and demonstrated competence in teaching and supervising theses within the Primary Teacher Program with a focus on work in leisure centers.
• Extensive experience in pedagogical work within leisure centers.
• Teacher certification and well-regarded teaching work in a relevant area.
• Demonstrated experience with VFU (practice-based education) within preschool, school, and/or university college.
• Doctoral studies in a relevant area, published or accepted scientific articles in a relevant area.
• Documented good collaboration skills.

For this appointment, all evaluation criteria shall be applied without relative order. In assessing competence, the subject area, subject description, and tasks of the position are taken into account.

Other Information:

The position is a fixed-term appointment for 12 months, with a scope of 50%. The start date is September 1st or as agreed.

The selection process may include trial lectures, work samples, interviews, and reference checks.
