Sigtuna Municipality Library is now looking for an engaged Librarian Social Worker specializing in youth for the newly opened Culture House Mimer in Valsta!
About the Culture and Leisure Administration
The Culture and Leisure Administration works to promote cultural and leisure activities in the municipality. We are a politically guided service organization where the residents are our clients. Together, we find new ideas and solutions that contribute to the residents' quality of life, sustainability, health, integration, and reduced social exclusion.
Sigtuna's libraries are located in four places in the municipality: Märsta, Sigtuna, Valsta, and Rosersberg. The position will be based at the newly built Culture House Mimer in Valsta, a lively and activating meeting place with generous opening hours where actors and operations from across the municipality work together for a meaningful leisure time and equal living conditions for all our residents!

Responsibilities
As a Librarian Social Worker specializing in youth, you work on relationship-building and preventive measures to strengthen young people's participation, safety, and well-being. You meet young people with different experiences and life situations and work to create trusting relationships and safe contexts within the library environment.
You are a present adult in young people's daily lives and work both proactively and close to the operations. The role involves identifying needs, making contact, and contributing to young people finding paths to community, culture, learning, and support. The library should be a place where young people feel welcome and have the opportunity to influence and participate in the activities.
The work takes place in close collaboration with the library's other operations, schools, leisure activities, social services, associations, and other actors who meet young people in the municipality.
In the role of Librarian Social Worker, you will among other things:
- Work on relationship-building and safety with young people in the library environments, and contribute to developing the library as a safe and inclusive meeting place
- Plan and carry out activities, conversations, and operations together with young people, and work to strengthen young people's participation and influence in the operations
- Identify needs and support young people further to the right operations and social support when needed
- Collaborate with schools, youth clubs, social services, associations, and other operations that meet young people
- Work at the library's information desks where you provide service, support, and guidance to visitors
Qualifications
- Have a social work degree or other education and/or work experience that the employer deems equivalent
- Have experience of or a strong interest in working with young people and relationship-building work
- Are confident in meeting young people with different experiences and life situations, and have good ability to build trust, establish relationships, and work inclusively
- Are receptive, pedagogical, and proactive
- Have good communication skills and a professional approach
- Have good collaboration skills and enjoy collaborating with different operations and actors
It is meritorious if you have experience of previous work in a library, and if you speak one or more languages in addition to Swedish and English.
