We are looking for a Mechanical Test Engineer for one of the world's largest high-voltage laboratories

NKT connects a greener world with high-quality power cable technology and stands at the center as the world transitions to renewable energy. At our factory in Karlskrona, we design, develop, and manufacture high-voltage cable solutions that enable this transition.

Key role in the development and innovation of mechanical testing for world-leading high-voltage products

As the demand for advanced mechanical testing increases, we are now looking for a Mechanical Test Engineer to join our team in Karlskrona. The core of our department covers applied mechanics, advanced testing, and the custom design of mechanical test solutions that support the development of new or improved products.

As a Mechanical Test Engineer, you will work in a cross-disciplinary environment with a clear focus on innovation. You will provide technical support to solve complex mechanical challenges across various products and at all stages of the product development process. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work, is curious and creative, and has the ability to see the big picture and find smart solutions.

Your main responsibilities

  • Build test setups for mechanical investigations
  • Conduct advanced mechanical tests, including data collection and analysis
  • Understand the needs of internal and external customers and develop solutions requiring advanced mechanical testing
  • Plan and execute various consulting and test projects, from initial customer dialogue to execution and reporting
  • Contribute your testing experience to the development of tomorrow's world-leading high-voltage products
  • Work methodically and goal-oriented, while communicating clearly
  • Supervise assemblers

In addition, you have:

  • A B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • A genuine interest in practical work – you enjoy assembling, testing, and working hands-on
  • Experience from a mechanical workshop or similar environment
  • Good familiarity with laboratory environments as well as mechanical test equipment and test setups
  • Good computer skills, especially in Microsoft Excel and Matlab for data analysis
  • Knowledge of CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, or CATIA, as well as hydraulic systems in experimental applications, is an advantage
