Counselor for Salvation Army Skogsbo – Shelter for Women Exposed to Violence

Skogsbo is the Salvation Army's shelter for women exposed to violence and their children. Here we offer a safe and home-like environment where families can settle, recover, and create the conditions for a safer life.

The shelter receives women exposed to violence in intimate relationships, honor-related violence, and human trafficking. The facility has space for 15 women and approximately 21 children.

We work from a holistic perspective where support measures are characterized by a salutogenic and empowerment-based approach.

Job Responsibilities

As a counselor at Skogsbo, you play a central role in social work and in supporting the residents. You are responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on interventions based on care plans and assignments from the placing municipality.

The work involves both independent responsibility and close collaboration with colleagues. You work with both women and children, where the child's perspective is an integrated part of the assignment.

The position involves working according to a rotating schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends. You are also part of the facility's on-call schedule, for which compensation is paid according to the collective agreement.

Planning & Follow-up

• Plan interventions based on assignments and care plans.
• Create implementation plans and work with safety planning.
• Follow up and evaluate interventions.

Support for Residents

• Conduct support conversations with women and children.
• Work in a motivational and supportive manner in daily life.
• Contribute to safety and structure in the residential environment.

Collaboration & Authority Contacts

• Act as a contact person for the placing social services.
• Collaborate with schools, healthcare, and other actors.
• Participate in planning regarding the resident's future path.

Documentation

• Ongoing documentation in the facility system.
• Create reports, evaluations, and follow-ups.

Team & Operations

• Contribute to the development of methods and quality.
• Work closely with colleagues from a holistic perspective.
• Practical work is included.

Qualifications & Merits

Requirements:

• Degree in Social Work (Social Worker).
• At least two years of experience working with victims of violence.
• Experience in social work.
• Good documentation habits and understanding of authority processes.
• Valid driver's license (Category B).
• Female applicants only.

Merits:

• Experience from shelters, residential care homes (HVB), or similar operations.
• Knowledge of the mechanisms of violence and its consequences.
• Experience with risk and safety assessments.

Great importance is attached to personal suitability. You need to be secure, professional, and emotionally stable. It is important that you can work independently and responsibly, have good collaboration skills, and are flexible and solution-focused.

A prerequisite for a successful collaboration is that you share the Salvation Army's values.
