Ljunghaga School is a small F–6 school with an associated after-school center (fritidshem) located in a rural and very peaceful environment, where the proximity to nature permeates the entire operation. We create a warm and family-like atmosphere and provide excellent opportunities to see each student and build secure relationships.
The pedagogical focus of the school and the after-school center emphasizes creativity, variety, and learning that sparks curiosity, joy, and the thrill of discovery. Here, students are encouraged to explore, try, and think for themselves, while also having space for rest and recovery.
We work primarily with analog methods, using digital tools sparingly and with a clear purpose. Our geographical surroundings — forests, meadows, lakes, and farm environments — offer great opportunities to take students outdoors.
The team works closely and continuously together, placing great value on collaboration and a willingness to contribute to the whole. All adults at the school share a common responsibility for meeting students' needs for belonging, security, and appreciation. Therefore, we are looking for you who thrive in an operation where relationships, collaboration, and shared responsibility are at the center.
Responsibilities
You will plan, implement, and follow up on activities based on students' interests and the after-school center's mission in the curriculum.
Key duties include:
- Planning and leading pedagogical activities in areas such as creative arts, movement, play, and social interaction
- Stimulating students' development, creativity, and independence
- Creating a safe and inclusive environment where all students feel involved
- Supporting students' social development and relationships
- Actively working with core values, well-being, and safety
- Collaborating with colleagues and guardians regarding students' development and well-being
- Participating in development and quality work within the after-school center
- Being responsible for daily routines and supervision during the after-school center's opening hours
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who:
- Is a certified teacher with the qualification to teach in after-school centers/recreation leaders
- Has a good ability to create secure and positive relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues
- Is engaged, responsible, and has a professional approach
- Has good collaboration skills and contributes to a positive work climate
- Is creative and proactive in working with activities and teaching in the after-school center
- Has good knowledge of the after-school center's mission and curriculum
- Can work independently and in a structured manner
It is meritorious if you:
- Have experience working in an after-school center
- Have knowledge or interest in areas such as creative arts, sports, music, or outdoor life
- Have experience working with students in need of special support
Personal Attributes
We are looking for someone who is secure, responsible, and has a clear interest in creative and analog teaching methods. You enjoy working on a smaller scale, close to nature, and value close collaboration within the team.
