We at Medicine Ward 3 in Malmö are now looking for a nurse for night shifts who shares our interest in our three focus areas: person-centered care, teamwork, and education. We believe these areas strongly contribute to high-quality care, as well as an stimulating work environment for all employees.
Person-centered care and teamwork
Person-centered care aims to identify what the individual, who is also the patient, wants to get out of their care time, both during the stay and in the long term. It involves making wise, evidence-based, and well-founded choices regarding examinations, treatment, and nursing interventions where the specific person's best interest is the focus. This may mean shifting the focus from "Best practice" to "Best for patient".
To get a holistic view of our patients and offer quality care, teamwork between different healthcare professions is required. On Medicine Ward 3, doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, pharmacists, dietitians, and social workers collaborate closely to ensure that our patients receive the best care we can offer.
About the ward
Medicine Ward 3 is part of the Emergency Care and Internal Medicine business area, which operates at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) in both Malmö and Lund. The ward is located in modern care facilities with a view of Pildammsparken. Currently, the ward has 18 care beds.
The ward has had an experienced clinical specialist nurse for many years who works closely with the patients and the team. This provides unique support and an opportunity for personal development in complex nursing situations. In addition to the unit manager, there is also a unit responsible nurse who works together to develop the ward and serve as a ward-level support.
Our patients in internal medicine consist of an interesting mix of diseases, care needs, but above all, people with fantastic life stories. There is an opportunity to develop competence in most of our common diseases and handle both chronic and acute diagnoses.
Responsibilities
In the role of a nurse, you are responsible for basic and medical nursing care. You should be able to identify and prevent risks for the patient as well as perform medical interventions. On our ward, we always have a comprehensive approach between the team and towards other colleagues during the shift. This means that help is always available if needed. On our ward, the entire team strives for a person-centered approach and actively works to create ways of working that promote PCC (Person-Centered Care).
As a new employee, we plan your introduction based on your needs and experience. Individual and group competence development is the foundation of our internal training activities on the ward. Together with our unit responsible doctors (EAL), we plan term-based training programs according to the ward's needs and wishes, where the EAL is responsible for part of the training program, with the aim of strengthening the team's competence. You also have the opportunity to participate in Sus term-planned trainings as well as Sus online training programs.
On the ward, we strive to have high competence regarding different types of catheters. There are already experienced inserters of Picc-lines and Midlines on the ward, and there is also the possibility for external training regarding catheters, as a competence development area for future new employees.
The vacancy is for a parental leave substitute with an start date by agreement and lasting until 2027-08-30.
Qualifications
You who are applying are a registered nurse with the eligibility to work in Swedish healthcare. Language skills in Swedish at least equivalent to level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale are a requirement.
As a person, you have the ability to take personal responsibility and make your own decisions, but you also value teamwork. Furthermore, you are proactive and can adjust your planning according to the operations' needs. In your patient contact as well as with colleagues, we expect you to be receptive and to have a humble approach. In addition, you have good self-awareness and are flexible in your work. Great importance is attached to personal suitability.
